Aren't you in Calif.? I'm pretty sure if you have a real sunny small spot, you

could grow or container grow a papaya fairly quickly. It might not get fruit,

but I'm sure it would get leaves. If you haven't seen them, they are just a

funny looking straight shoot (5 ft. +) that grow in warm clim.s in 9 mo.s or

so.I use to grow them in hawaii, easy, like tomatos......

This morning when I went to check them they were so fizzy it sounded like i was

popping open champagne. it's still a little sweet, but since it's fizzy and it

brewed for 9 days i think its ok. Should i let it go another day, or put it in

the fridge now?

, how are you? been taking papain in various forms, for a long, long

time, derived from " fruit " excellent enzyme!! No Problem. On the other hand

the leaves, made into tea, brewn in and thru scoby is what is advised!!

Especially in synergy with green tea!! Did you read the articles? There is a lot

of good reading out there on this subject! kind regards;)) Jahjet

... Papaya is native of Mexico and Central America..revered by the natives.

Colombus called it " The fruit of the angels " and been grown in

Hawaii since early 1900,however its health benefits just getting attention for

the las 20 some years.Everything i read on this points out its benefits

especially to a troubled tummy with " thin lining " ..instead of " antacid what

doctors presribe " this is an aid not a war on the stomach liningh.. truly humbly

yours,Jahjet ..

" especially if one has a thin lining of a stomach - might cause internal

bleeding. Alway check with a medical professional as papaya leaf are very very

strong. ie can tenderize a big pig stomach in a jiffy! (yummy though) "

" herbal brew " i hear u can use instead of tea, or mix it with green tea, since

they enhence one another..unless u make extract of it..and use in second

ferment.

Right, but the pig stomach is dead meat, versus a healthy humans digestive

tract, yes?But yes, you should be careful what you ingest....

Papaya juice - I remember my mom used to rub the juice to soften the pig stomach

(rub and then stuff the leaves in the stomach for an hour or so- so tender and

delicious), tenderize various meat before cooking but never drink it neat. The

Chinese and most restaurant use the dried papaya leaf juice also known as papain

as meat tenderizer to make it much softer for customer to chew.

Just be very careful with the quantity consumed as you do not wish to

'tenderize' your internal organs as these are very potent stuff. Chinese had for

centuries used this as the main meat softener/tenderizer but not to drink it. I

understand that it helps cancer treatment but have not seen any formal medical

results/evidence. Everything in moderation - if you are well, avoid it as you do

not wish to have 'ready to cook' internal organs ie. your tummy especially if

one has a thin lining of a stomach - might cause internal bleeding. Alway check

with a medical professional as papaya leaf are very very strong. ie can

tenderize a big pig stomach in a jiffy! (yummy though)
