Guest guest
Colette... oh my do I relate to the yelling at times too....I feel so horrible when I do that, I call my best friend crying feeling so guilty. she tells me she blows out on her kids several times a day, that I'm not a horrid mom. The music sounds like a super idea ! In fact, I have done that if we're in the car, I ask her to listen. I'll ask if she can hear the guitar, (she used to play). It is uncanny how they can be fine one minute, then out of the blue....BAM. At times it has really startled us, she be drawing, then shreik about she messed it up. One of her frequent things to go off on is at dinner. When she's done she'll tell us she's done. Then just sit there. I ask her to put her stuff in the sink. She asks how, I don't know how . I have the tray in my lap, I can't get up. I tell her to let the tray fall. She then asks what she does next. then starts saying i don;t understand, I can't, I can't . Its a 30 min ordeal, but I make her do it all on her own. as you said, we'll keep going on, giving each other a little push at a time. the engine that could, we can. lynne' Colette Myers <mctommom@...> wrote: Lynne....is it so frustrating!! Know that doesn't help but I feel for and with you. It just seems to belike a light switch. One minute all is good the next she is screaming her hair is not right and fix it fix it fix it!!! I go through it all...calm, nuturing, ignoring, yelling. I try not to get to the yelling but it just gets so frustrating. Someone mentioned the music. I wonder if I had a tape/cd I automatically just turned on that was very calming. Maybe even low enough she doesn't hear it at first but I know so I will have to concentrate on listening reaslly hard to that music instead of her. We'll keep lookign for ideas and sharing what works!! Yesterday was one of mine. In a bad OCD crisis moment my dd just kept yelling at me, " help me, " and/or " I can't. " I was calm for a while but eventually I lost my cool. I always regret it and feel horrible. I was thinking maybe someone out there has a technique that helps them. I often starting cleaning and picking up around the house. It keeps me distracted but it is really starting to bug my dd. Anyone have something out there I could try? And I don't mean the count to 10 and breathe. Been there done that...way over rated for OCD moms!!! Thanks...Colette --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
