Hi all, I was one of the first to get BioAlcamid put into my cheeks up here in Toronto.Because the plastic surgeon was new at it, he overfilled.  Which didn't seem like such a big deal compared to how I had looked prior to BioAlcamid.

At about the three year mark, I had a massive infection in the right cheek.(According to my HIV specialist, the product degrades at about that time, which is why so many infections occur about then, about 25 % of people, if i remember correctly.)

Last summer, during sex, a guy squeezed hard on my left cheek, and voila! an infection occurred there overnight.I had a lot of trouble getting in to see the only doc in Toronto who deals with BioAlcamid extraction/correction.

The puss and product started to come out of the holes where my HIV specialist had inserted a needle to take samples of the puss, to see which antibiotic was required. (Her original choice was proven to be incorrect, so it is essential that the sample be examined to see what bugs lurk there.)  Anyway, I squeezed out the puss, and, unbeknowst to me, almost all the product.  I had been told that it was impossible to get all the product out, but boy, did I ever get a lot of it.  I had had a problem with product migrating down to my jaw area, but that problem was solved.  I was told I wouldn't look as gaunt as I did prior to the product, and its true, there must be some tissue buildup, but, I still look somewhat gaunt, and have a dinge, on the left side of my face, which is not in synch with my right cheek, which still has enough product left to create a fullness.

So, here's my question:  I'm going to see Dr. Gantous again in early April, and will ask what my options are.  I'm told that he still uses BioAlcamid (although this may not still be accurate).  I'm wondering if anyone has had BioAlcamid reinjected after an infection. If so, did this prove to be a good idea (so far)?

I'm probably a vain idiot for even considering the possibility of using this product again. But I'm not aware of any other options available here.   Perhaps Dr. Gantous will have a suggestion.  But I fear it will be: remove BioAlcamid from the right side.  Then I'll have that " look " again.  And, since the product on my right side isn't migrating, fiddling with it might cause more problems than it solves.

Never a dull moment, eh?  in Toronto, Canada (where we say " eh " , and not " huh " )   :-))))))))))))))
