Guest guest
I agree Velma about gift of learning on this list! Everyone so generous with information and experiences. After surfing the internet and being on this group list, I am much more confident in making my own Kombucha Tea. Tonight I bottled 8 and sold 3 to friends!! I have been checking out craigs list (for large jars and now for bottles) but will definitely try freecycle! I remember few weeks ago I got panicky and worried about one of the BABY SCOBY " drowning " and everyone was right, slowly it turned sideway, then yesterday finally it is floating! My " Kombucha Lab " consist of 2 2.5 gal one with adopted SCOBY and one with baby SCOBY I grew from scratch and 3 SCOBY starters, one is ready to be moved to large jar (but the 2 jars I just got from bed bath and beyond didn't work out so I am looking for one), one isn't doing very well, it is the one I moved from top shelf to eye level shelf but I haven't given up on that, and one I just started Sunday. I am also right now looking for something like tea cart or like tool cart. My lab is in my office but the jars are large and when filled I just cant carry them around so maybe with a cart, I can move them to the kitchen when bottling and cleaning... Something I need to disclipine myself is to do a better job on my journal. I am so happy with my first jar/8bottles and now am not sure what the ingredients were (I know I doubled the recipe because my jars are 2.5 gallons but I still wish I wrote them down) Ok im starting to ramble.. good night pleased to meet you Velma! Loved hearing about your KT and thanks for the freecycle tip! J Re: Re: Partay time! I did! I am in search of a gallon glass jar though! The scoby I got was huge! very thick & looks great! I have a 2 qt jar... I need BIGGER!! lol I brewed my tea (i did black & green tea) oh wait.. I boiled water first, added my sugar... then let the tea steep... waited till it was room temp, added a little more water then added my scoby & starter tea. When I added the scoby it is sideways in the jar... is that ok?? I covered it with a cloth & rubber-banded it. Now I just wait? How long do you usually wait? After that is when I add whatever fruits or whatever & do the 2nd fermentation? Patti
