Dearest Advocates:

I wanted to make sure you had the most recent information on the CMO’s (need participation in public hearings) and the Beckett/Deeming Waiver (regarding a request for proposals being sent out to finally put together a non-profit organization to help those families denied the Beckett Waiver and others). Happy Reading!

Beckett Waiver Update:

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta is pleased to release the attached Request for Proposals (RFP) on behalf of the Champions for Children with Exceptional Needs Initiative. Led by a diverse Advisory Committee of service providers, parents, and advocates for medically fragile and special needs children, Champions’ central task is to identify a nonprofit or network of nonprofits to provide support for Georgia’s medically fragile and special needs children and their families.

The purpose of this request is to identify a statewide nonprofit organization or network of nonprofits to provide direct financial assistance to qualifying families of medically fragile and special needs children who do not have access to or have exhausted all available public and private resources for medical, therapeutic, and other support needs of their children. The selected nonprofit(s) will be expected to connect families of medically fragile and special needs children to other service providers that offer a variety of resources in the community. The Initiative will grant $4.25 million dollars to fund this comprehensive statewide effort over a period of four years. Guidelines for proposals, as well as a timeline detailing orientation and Q & A sessions, are provided in the RFP. Please review the attached RFP and circulate it among other nonprofit organizations

who may be interested in applying.

Submissions for this RFP are due by Wednesday, September 19th, at 5:00PM.
