Service Providers Association for Developmental Disabilities, Inc., most commonly known as SPADD, is a non-profit organization established here in Georgia in 2002. As an inclusive association of both public and private providers of any community based MR/DD service, SPADD’s mission is to improve quality of services in Georgia by education of providers on Best Practice and advocacy and education regarding public policy. Consistent effective communication throughout the provider community has allowed the organization to grow its membership to nearly 50 providers statewide. Today, SPADD continues to provide support to providers and the persons they serve through its on-going legislative efforts, advocacy and public awareness activities in its endeavor to help improve availability and quality of services in Georgia. SPADD seeks to hire an Association Coordinator who is a self starter with strong organizational and computer skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences interested in the support of persons with developmental disabilities in Georgia is essential. SPADD Association Coordinator Summary of Duties and Responsibilities The Association Coordinator, reporting to the Executive Committee Chair, will work with the Executive Committee as an ex officio member, and with the SPADD member organizations. The principal duties of the Association Coordinator include: Serve as the part time administrator for SPADD. Work closely with the SPADD Chair, the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors and the membership of the SPADD. Monitor the developments in State and Federal Developmental Disability Provider issues and keep SPADD membership informed. Work with member agencies to enhance participation in SPADD activities. Facilitate interactions between the SPADD and State agencies, working in support of the Membership. Carry out tasks assigned by the Executive Committee and its Chair. Manage all aspects of SPADD meetings and, in consultation with the Executive Committee, develop the agenda for SPADD meetings Coordinate the activities of the contracted lobbyist assigned to provide legislative support to SPADD. Serve as liaison between the Executive Committee and other SPADD committees and task forces. Provide guidance to SPADD committees and task forces in the design and implementation of their responsibilities. Facilitate the development of and maintain SPADD website. Provide regular communication to SPADD membership. Qualification Requirements Essential In-depth knowledge of Developmental Disability (DD) Services, typically gained through extensive experience in this area. In-depth understanding of policy issues related to the government funded DD services. Partnership. Demonstrated analytic ability, knowledge of DD service business process and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Works effectively with a variety of stakeholders. Desirable Experience as in DD services gained through the perspective both of academia and Georgia State government.
