Guest guest
I agree that would be nice. I have found that if you go on special days like Mother's day, Fathers day, Easter, etc. It is better. Both my sons have As and we went to the aquarium on Easter. We got there at 8am and left about 1pm. Just as it started getting crowded. We have done this with the zoo and the renisance ?? festival. We get there early and go on days that most others are with family or church and leave about the time everyone else gets there. So far it works.Mom of 12 with AS/OCDMom of 19 Hyperlexia/ASWife of husband with ASwendybsly <wbeasley2004@...> wrote: Well, apparently if you can afford to send your child to school at the Marcus Institute, they got to have a day at the aquarium. Channel 46 news just had a news story on their students, parents and teachers going today and being the only visitors there during that time. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge anyone who can afford the schooling at Marcus for sending their child there, but it sure would be nice for those of us who can't afford to do so if Mr. Marcus would set aside several days a year, maybe one a quarter, that are for special needs families and their children, or special needs classroom field trips, and limit the number of tickets sold on those days to allow for smaller crowds. We took our son to Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, and even though it wasn't a capacity crowd the day we went, when you got into certain areas where things got narrowed down and people started bunching up, we had to bypass those areas, but he loved Living Seas at Epcot and the Polar exhibit at Sea World when we went a few years ago, but there again, it was much more open and much less crowded. Guest guest
HOW FUNNY!!!!! I was thinking the exact same thought on this. Why doesn't he have a 'day' for all kids with a disability or even autism to attend? That would probably be too much money out of the pockets of allowing that. I had to reply to your post since I said the exact same thing to my husband when they aired the piece. "Well, apparently if you can afford to send your child to school at the Marcus Institute, they got to have a day at the aquarium. Guest guest
I wouldn't even mind so much paying the admission price -- but it would be great if they would set aside a special day for only families with special needs kids -- I hate always having to feel like I have to leave somewhere (thus wasting admission $$) if my son decides to make noise or jump up and down randomly which usually leads to others who don't understand autism to look at me with that "why don't you control your kid" look -- which, by the way, I don't necessarily care about..but I typically don't want to disrupt others who have paid a high price to enjoy an outing with their family. Anyway -- just venting -- anyone have connections to Barney Marcus???!!! Re: Georgia Aquarium--Marcus Institute trip I agree that would be nice.
