Guest guest
Hi, I need some advice. As most of you know my son is 12 with severe Autism , non verbal , self abuse and still in diapers. He started Middle school this year where no one knows him. When I met his teacher on Registration day, I had fears then. She did'nt even acknowledge my son or ask any questions or anything. He is not doing good in her class at all, and has come home in the last 4 weeks with 3-4 large bruises and no one knows where they come from. She also told me she was not going to use his pecs because he points and lets her know what he wants. Frida (yesterday) she called me said he was acting out and I needed to pick him up. So I called the principal and spec ed. I told them I didnt think it would be good to pick him up because he may learn thats what he needs to do to go home. I felt so bad for my son. I wanted to run up there and RESCUE him , but I did not want to start a bad habit for him or the teacher, she would think she could call me all the time then. Heres the part I am upset about and need some advice. She is a substitute, not certified and is filling in for the regular teacher that has cancer. I have been told to just hold on the regular teacher will be back soon, but by some other teachers I know that knows the regular teacher tells me she wont be back anytime soon, she is still sick. I had requested an IEP last Mon and they cancelled it, now its this wed the 19th. What is my rights? Can I ask for him a new teacher? Should I say I dont think he needs this teacher because he needs someone very experienced? Please let me know what everyone thinks. MY son had a great Summer and now he cries as if hes scared and dont want me out of his sight. Also does anyone know about the school system having to supply a car seat for the bus? They say hes starting to act on it too. We are in Richmond County, Augusta. Thank you and God bless Augusta Uniting Together In Search of Miracles
