Guest guest
As for eating them, why not? We drink and enjoy the brew the magical mushroom makes, so it can't be bad for us in itself. One of the nurses I know, a Philippina, said that as a child she remembers her mother slicing the " funny pancake " in tiny slivers and putting it in salads. She remembers it being very chewy, but it got eaten. I have tried drying a few of my excess Scobys, have tossed some to the neighbor's dogs, who fought over them, gave a sliver to my cat who took it to play with and hides it only to reclaim it now and then! He loves his strange little mousie! Doesn't eat it though. Still have a jar nearly full of them, and even in the hotel they keep on reproducing. The top one in the hotel is creamy and very, very thick. Every now and then I take the top one off and put it in a full jar of new tea after tossing the old, brown ones.
