Guest guest
Hi o and EveryOne, We are of course not qualified to offer a medical opinion and do not do so now. There have been many people who reported that Kombucha helped them with everything from acid reflux to Crohns Disease. You must do what you feel is right for you. If you do decide to try it start with a small amount and also be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Peace, Love and Harmony, Bev > > This is my kombucha after 10 days of brewing. > > http://dite.homeip.net/kombucha/kombucha2.jpg > > There is a nice scooby on top. > I added a heat mat to raise the temperature, it helped a lot > All this without the KT starter, only the scooby, tea, sugar and 3 > tablespoon of > apple cider vinegar. > > I will make a second batch today with this KT as starter. > Now to the sad part, I have a gastritis and an inflammation in the upper > intestine, > and I'm using acidity blockers to heal this. > > I'm not sure if I can drink Kombucha Tea > It seems I produce a lot of acid > > What do you think about ? > > Cheers, > o > > >

Guest guest
That was a weird thing ...to throw out the baby,,, on any level... think about it... just relax read directions on this site & others, there are so many books and tons of stuff on the net.... too much info out there for anyone to remain misinformed...come on guys.. research, German & otherwise is out there for anyone to read, since 1920's, sometimes I get so discouraged on this site, that no one seems to be bothered with all the information that is already there on the site, I was hoping to be learning a little more instead of the same old re-hash....if I read one more thing on freaking mold without you actually knowing what you are brewing...(an acidic bev, that DESTROYS MOLD , naturally,) which,  it's all about, healthy pro-biotic yeasty bacteria !!!! I don't hear anyone freaking out that they just drank a COKE, or ate a burger... give me a break...  From: Jahjet <jahjet@...> Subject: Re: first batch, temperature and fermentation kombucha tea Date: Sunday, April 18, 2010, 9:48 PM  o , i hope you will put mom back in there it looked like a nice momma scobie, so what were your plans on that? Guest guest
Though lemons are acidic, I hear they have an alkalizing effect on the body like Kombucha should. I think the best time to drink kombucha is when it tastes more like vinegar. If you drink it too early in it's stage, you are just drinking sugar tea, and cancer thrives on sugar. When I started drinking it in it's early stage, it tasted better, but I began to feel very bloated. Just my 2 cents! ~nne ________________________________ From: Jahjet <jahjet@...> kombucha tea Sent: Sun, April 18, 2010 3:36:29 PM Subject: Re: first batch, temperature and fermentation o, it has a balancing, alkalizing effect on the body,( i was trying to say>>) Cheers Jahjet > > Not if the apple cider vinegar is pasteurized. > > For the alkalizing part, I doubt that kombucha can alkalize the body in > the long run, the ph is low and there are no minerals in it. > > This is my understanding of it, not a definitive word. > > I'll try to drink the next batch > > Thank you, > o >

Guest guest
I removed the first baby scooby because I added vinegar to the brew as starter. Otherwise I would keep it in... Also, there will be a time when you'll have too many scoobies for your jar. What you do if you don't have anyone to give it to, have no dog etc ? I would keep the healtiest ones and discard the oldest Regards, o

Guest guest
Even if you add vinegar, you can leave all the scobies in. And, it's more valuable to use previous KT instead of vinegar. I have probably 4 scobies per jar. Just started a hotel recently so I have backups in case anything does go wrong. I heard of using old scobies on rose bushes. There are a lot of uses for old scobies if you snoop around. There's a ton of info on the net. Hope that helps! Warmly, Velma kombucha tea From: roberto.sebastiano@... Guest guest
Cheers, o..I think i understand , you were concerned that your daughter scobie may have been tainted by the vinegar. Your Mother scoby was the one that supplied the daughter with all she needed, the vinegar was a safety net mostly and to induce a faster birth(to make yeast action faster, and to keep mold invasion less likely) Mother gave it all she had, when baby was formed. Yet still have more to give. I remember when i had my babies, took a lot out of me, and took my body a while..to regenerate, for next baby. An analagy, what i think happens. That daughter ( discarded)had everything she needed to make new daughter from her mother, like you said..goes on an on..with daughters to carry on. Peace, Jahjet PS: we were talking about this earlier, you need a mother , or KT to make scobie, of course having both is nice to have but not necessary, > I removed the first baby scooby because I added vinegar to the brew as starter. > > Otherwise I would keep it in... > > Also, there will be a time when you'll have too many scoobies for your > jar. Guest guest
Maybe i'm just paranoid ... And hopefully a more seasoned KT brewer will back me up OR correct me if im wrong !!! But microbiology tells me that I shouldn't touch the scoby with my bare hand. Even clean hands have a million of our natural flora bacterium in the surface. If you are handling a SCOBY without sterile glove, it shouldn't be put right in to propagate... ****note-I believe this is the one was discarding. For beanies (I am one too), I didn't want anyone to see the pic and presume it is okay to handle with fingers. It will increase your chances greatly of growing something you DONT want in your brew. ~~~janine~~~ On Apr 18, 2010, at 7:28 PM, " Jahjet " <jahjet@...> wrote: Oh..no! Guest guest
....if that concerned, and should be, make sure to scrub your hands well, have short nails. I have very short nails, i still give an occasional massage, so i am in habit of keeping it short. I also rinse my hands in distilled vinegar. I think they are allergic to latex,or I am. Guest guest
I figured! Thanks for not taking it the wrong way. With the pic (and LOVELY SCOBY), I just didn't ant anyone going by the visual alone. Many people think (and our children are taught) that washed hands are bacteria free...
