Guest guest
Hello sure hope your problem with flooding is over must be real bummer esp the cost hope your insurance covers it.Also hope your new doctor works out, with me I have a hard time explaining the pain to doctors like my last visit when the pred was increased(although I did tell her that it didn't feel like a flare at all much different pain still pissed about that cause now I havto decrease the pred all over again).I hope most of your nephews problems are over with and he can continue just being a little kid again ehh.Take care. d.Canada OT/LONG and new rheumy visit WOW!!! Hello to all my Stilligan friends! What a couple of weeks. I haven't been on line for a week because we had some major flooding at my house and had to disconnect the PC to get the damage cleaned up. We have found the problem, with a little help from a contractor, and $1500 later we will have some french drains put in and hopefully solve the problem - been a little stressful. This is the second time, and hopefully the last, we have had major flooding. We've only lived here 9 months. Life's messy, clean it up! In the middle of all this we managed to pull off my 6 yr. old's birthday party. The messier the better, in the eyes of a 6 yr old!!!My nephew, Ethan, is symptom free. It appears he has that weird virus with the name I cannot recall, but have written down somewhere in my stacks of paper that are no longer where I left them due to the flood. The good news he is better, the bad news is he is likely to battle with this condition for years and it has potentially serious complications (much like Stills - it likes to attack organs.).I say my new rheumy in Birmingham this week. He is connected with The University of Alabama - Birmingham Med School. I had never been in this type of medical environment, but it's where I recommend all Still's patients to try and get to if you can. A resident spent about 30 minutes doing a thorough medical background on me and exam. I kind of jumped when he came in because he was so young. He explained "The Doctor" (even though he is a doctor, it is just obvious he is in residency) would be in after him. He was startled when he saw the Still's rash/skin appearance on my legs. It was his first time seeing it. Then, he explained everything to "The Doctor" and then "The Doctor" asked me a zillion questions. Then, I had a zillion blood tests done, and some x-rays of the feet, hands, and wrists. Bottom line is he is going to analyze all the bloodwork, the x-rays, everything I've told him, and see me back in two weeks. He was very knowledgeable, very respectful, and concerned. Big change from the rheumy in Huntsville...."You're going to be just fine Ms. Todd, see you in 6 months." If I'm so fine, why can I barely move out of bed in the AM and my pain is so great I get nauseated? This new rheumy didn't make any conclusions, but he sure didn't appear to think I was making up symptoms. He told me to stop the OTC anti-inflammatories and started me on Mobic - it's a NSAID. My swelling is already improved. I, and what do I know it's just my body, think the Still's is out of control, but he thinks there is a possibility of Fibromyalgia and/or thyroid problems. He also tested my adrenal glands which had shut down completely. Anyways, I feel confident that I am in good hands, and I am so relieved because this disease is not something to let amatures mess with. Please, to all of you, who are not confident with your rheumy, keep looking for a new one. It is worth the work.I've missed all of you. Sorry if I've rambled. I'm going to catch up on e-mails sometime today. I haven't been receiving everything because my box got to full. If I don't respond to someone - I'm not ignoring you. I just didn't receive it. Much love from WET Alabama....Chris_________________________________________________________________Optimize your Internet experience to the max with the new MSN Premium Internet Software. http://click.atdmt.com/AVE/go/onm00200359ave/direct/01/Visit the Still's Disease Message Boardhttp://disc.server.com/Indices/148599.htmlThe materials and information contained in this message are not intended to replace the services of a trained health professional or to be a substitute for medical advice of physicians and/or other health care professionals. Guest guest
Hello sweet Alabama Chris! You have been busy haven't you? Sorry to hear about the "flooding." Thank you for the update about Ethan, and happy to know it's not Stills...but, that virus (whatever it is) sounds as if it could cause some real nasty problems somewhere down the road. Hopefully not. You are headed in the right direction with the new doctor's, and I am very happy for you about that, as you will have more piece of mind, and get the proper treatment besides. Take care Chris! Guest guest
Peace of Mind is so important - like you said Tricia. That is exactly how I left the new rheumies office the other day - relieved. I don't care if he says, " we're doing everything possible. " I now have a rheumy who will talk to me, explain things, and most importantly respect me as a human being with feelings - so again, all of you out there who are not pleased with your rheumy - do not give up - I believe there are more great ones out there than not so great! Keep looking until you find one that fits you- Drying out in Sweet Home Alabama...Love, Chris >From: " TLC " <2r1@...> >> > Hello sweet Alabama Chris! > >You have been busy haven't you?
