Guest guest
Hi Agnes I also started juicing recently. My current favourite is orange, apple, carrot and ginger - which I understand is good for inflammation. I have a really good book called 'Super Juice' by van Straten, all healthy juicing combinations and recipes. An excellent detox one is beetroot, apple, carrot and celery - which is very tasty. Guest guest
Gosh, , thanks for this message. I have never mixed fruit and veggies together. Just did not sound right, I guess, but your message here sounds good. I don't know why it wouldn't - being southern from birth, I like apple in salads so will now have to give this a try. Don't know about that ginger in there, however. hugs, O'Connor wrote: > > Hello, > I like carrots, Granny apple, ginger, and parsley. Guest guest
I got my Champion yesterday and my People's Press today. I had a day and a half and eight glasses of juice to get use to the Champion before the press came in. According to the directions on the press if used with the champion, the best results come if you modify the Champion, causing it to mascate the juice several times and most of the pulp will be going into the pressing bag, rather then immediately to juice. It comes with clear instructions and the gaskets to modify the champion. My DH will do that tonight as I am very bad at following directions :-). I made grape juice and pressed the pulp. I was left with a remarkably small piece of grape leather from two bags of grapes. Which I gave to Sweet Pea our bunny (the family rodent) :-). Needless to say I am quite impressed and looking forward to this wonderful investment in my health. Bernadette
Guest guest
Bernadette, How is it going, getting used to the Champion and People's Press? Is there alot of clean up effort? Is the juice warm from the champion? Patty Re: Juicing > I got my Champion yesterday and my People's Press today. Guest guest
Patty, I think I am a juicing addict :-) :-). Hubby is away and I am juice fasting again! Re-calling that I went from a Juiceman Jr. to the Champion and press. My juice is far from complaints. It is foamless. Clear of sediment and delicious! I know the press is well worth the money. I am confident that the juice I extract from my press will pay for itself in three months of juicing produce. I find that after the thrill of a new juicer, all juicing is a pain. Yet in comparison to the Juiceman Jr and it's pieces and cleanup the Champion is much nicer. The press is not a bother at all. You rinse and freeze the pressing bag. Son needs computer got to go... Guest guest
> Is the juice warm from the champion? No, I do not find the juice warm. Nor is it cold. I would call it like sink water, on the cooler side. Bernadette

Guest guest
Read DR Norman s books on juicing. A company called Salton had a machine for making nut butters. But seriously DR and also Bragg's books www.bragg.com, they will send you free stuff in the mail. The book that gave us the cure was Prescription for Nutritional Healing by J.A. Balch, F Balch (husband and wife). Also Karly needs music and deep sleep. Even if she appears to be getting enough sleep she may not be getting the right kind of sleep. Start her on liquid Calcium with magnesium at around six in the evening. The kind we used was called absorbeze it is thick and orange flavored. But there is also a kind that dissolves in hot water, you can then put juice in the water. My daughter was cooperative she downed six heaping teaspoons of the cal-mag (absorbeze) every night, so we were able to give her a big dose. I doubt you can get a child to drink six glassfuls of juice in one sitting. Oh We also used taurine but the main thing was the huge dose of cal-mag. The brain needs reorganization time, that is done in deep sleep, without the deep sleep its like running your car without tune ups eventually it will start to sputter and misfire. Also B-vits in liquid form. Again my daughter was cooperative. The child can fight you all the way but if you are lucky as we were you can get her to gag the stuff down. My daughter has been seizure free for nine years now. A seizure is a jagged wave length, music is (can be) a smooth wave length. Mozart can train the brain to produce the smooth wave length. There are certain papers on this which I lost but its out there on the web. Certain Mozart pieces known to reduce seizures. Music, rest, nutrition. Years ago people rocked their babies to sleep. I wonder if that gentle motion taught the brain that smooth wave length. One last note excuse me, who is the fool who said people should eat calcium from oyster shells, they were never meant to be eaten by humans. Absorption is important, the right kind of calcium, in an acid base. Gail Pike
Guest guest
I've always hated beets but strangely loved beet juice. Karly will love it too. As for cabbage juice I've never tried it just the thought of it, yuck. My daughter screamed her way though bouts of gas which were relieved with warm water enemas. The blockage holds the gas in. Pop the cork hunny. Oh well hope I'm not getting too personal here. Gail Pike

Guest guest
Hi , I'm finding raw carrots with or without an apple to be soothing to my digestion and energizing. The juicers waste so much that I just run my through a high spped blender. Another option is to use the pulp in soup. I make a lot of pure veggie soups ( no flacoring or spices and with a bit of fruit added) and run them thru the blender. These are good hot or cold and good for digestion also. I did find that raw or cooked celery don't agree with me nor raw cabbage. There are some good herbs to aid digestion also, boage, boneset, and blue cohosh with a mint to offset any bitterness works well for me. Natual papya enzymes are also good digestive aids. Guest guest
Hi , Most epileptics suffer from low magnesium. Magnesium ameliorates nervousness and control calcium levels. Magnesium also acts a mild stimulant to intestinal peristalsis. Try 200 mg in divided doses and increase until you begin to get loose stools, then back off. Do not exceed 800 mg in adults 400 in children. Guest guest
I have a friend that also has problems with a child with seizures and constipation. Related. Have you ever checked with X-ray to reveal whether or not their is some blockage or backup? This would then be relieved by the doctor with either medicines or a 'procedure " he hem. Some kids actually have a thing called a bezoir ( a fungal candida ball plus ingredients of he hem). Guest guest
, In very simple terms, by presoaking the whole nuts and seeds, the following is achieved: 1) Softens them, and makes it easier to put through the champion jucier, without having to add oil. so that it won't overheat or jam. We throw in most of the dried fruit, which softens it as well. 2)Begins the sprouting process, which greatly enhances the nutritional value of the nuts and seeds - esp. the enzym activity 3)Enhances the digestibility of the nuts and seeds, and in particular the alomonds. We do up a batch once a week. which we keep in an air tight container in the fridge, and get small bits out for meals, as required. regards, & Savage. Guest guest
Dear Trudy, In a message dated 01/25/2002 12:19:57 AM Eastern Standard Time, tnewman@... writes: > Is it only carrot juice or are there other veggies that he should be juicing? > Is is 8 8 oz. glasses daily? My impression is that 4 8oz glasses of carrot juice is the most common quantity of carrot juice used. I can't make any recommendations specifically for your friend. Below is some general info on juicing for cancer patients: Vegetable Juicing A major component of Gerson therapy is fresh-pressed carrot and green-leaf juices containing romaine lettuce, watercress, escarole, endive, red cabbage, beet tops (young inner leaves), swiss chard & spinach. I'd also juice broccoli sprouts and mung bean sprouts (Please note that much of my info is copied from Moonbeam). Beet juice also have powerful cancer-healing effects; however, there's a controversy over its use because of its high sugar content and glycemic index. Accordingly, I would juice only a few beets at a time, mixed w/other (preferably green) vegetables (This last sentence also applies to carrots, as well as beets). Fruit Juicing-- Gerson therapy also includes the drinking of organic (green) APPLE (20oz/day) and ORANGE (8oz/day) juice (note: Tangeretin, bioflavanoid in oranges, may interfere w/tamoxifen). I would juice lemon and lime together w/the orange. I would also juice KIWI and green/unripe PAPAYA (particularly for their proteolytic enzymes), as well as a few organic grapes (Grape juice is reportedly effective w/lung & prostate cancer and leukemia, but only juice a few grapes at a time considering their high sugar content). Some recommend juicing organic unpeeled pineapple (for its bromelain), including its stem, but (erring on the side of caution) I wouldn't (primarily because of pineapple's high glycemic index) but instead would take high dosages of bromelain supplements, ideally Wobenzyme. CAUTIONS: Fresh-pressed juice strongly detoxifies the body, but this results in an accumulation of toxins in the liver. Accordingly, if you drink large amounts of fresh-pressed juice, it is critical to also DETOXIFY THE LIVER. Coffee enemas are the standard and most powerful liver detox method and are used by many alt. cancer practitioners, but I would consult a health practitioner before using them. Joyce has posted some excellent info re: liver detox. Beet juice and certain herbs and homeopathic remedies also help flush/detoxify the liver, but I don't know if they're sufficient for someone drinking large amounts of fresh-pressed juice. Milk thistle helps protect the liver, and I would definitely use it too. Best wishes, Leonard
