Guest guest
No worry! Maybe they need a little rest, babies still growing, maturing. With the heat it's possible that the balance was tipped to the yeast, when pouring off KT pour off( get rid off) most of the seddlement from bottom of jar, and maybe let them rest out a longer cycle and get nice and sour, tipp back into the bacteria side..did you notice too much bubbling from yeast and heat? that might have disturbed scoby growth.Since you have two healthy babies, you are on the plus side of things! They will grow even when you do not notice they maybe growing inside..possibley best to use more black for awhile? Maybe less fizz( green makes more fizzy tea)Less bubbles, less disturbence on scobies.Just use your better judgment it sounds like you have it almost just right.Patience..and love. PS: are you tasting it? Peace Jahjet > > Hi everyone, > > I have been brewing for about 2 months. Guest guest
hi....i've only been using 1 cup sugar......maybe a bit more....this worked for me before and i had babies???? thanks again jahjet!! > > Hello, I have been thinking about this..and since you have not been giving them enough sugar, (1.5 cup is normal) to a gallon of water, plus or minus your 1.5 c starter tea. I would definitely remove the bottom sedlements, and try one more time feeding them. Third time is a charm..smile. If this did not work, and i do not see why it would not, there can be another approach..but i would wait and just try this..others might chime in?? > > Much Luv > Jahjet [Please snip your tailS!]
Guest guest
Hmm, since I am a bit warded off by using too much sugar, I experimented and found a few interesting blends that work really well, as to where I don't have to use too much 'sugar'. For example, I grow my own organic stevia, so I dry my stevia in a really nice dehydrator, then grind it by hand and add it into the brew. My SCOBYs REALLY seem to like stevia, haha. Plus, it cuts back on the sugar that I might end up putting in my body. I also started a brew (an experimental brew) where I sweetened with mostly dried fruit pulp and maybe a couple of table spoons of sugar. I also only used hibiscus flower..no camellia sinensis (I know I spelled it wrong, I always do hahaha). Its been 3 days, and I already see a little baby forming Maybe my SCOBYs just respond well to me, and know intuitively I have issues with too much sugar KOMBUCHICK
Guest guest
I just planted Stevia in my garden this year. I did not know what to do with it. I took 4 - 5 leaves and boiled it. Like steeping tea. Not to long. I ended up with lovely bright green liquid! Is this the best way to make it use able. I like the idea of using it with less sugar in the KT! Any advice would be appreciated I bottled the ligquid and pour it off in to sweeten my green tea or chamolie tea. karen
Guest guest
Hi ..i think our uses a lot of interesting techniques for sugar making, i love stevia in tea myself, i know people use it as alternative. I hope they help you on this! i'm somewhat a conservative, i give kombucha its sugar ( organic light golden) My kombucha likes it! odd..when i make hummingbird sugar water, for some reason they prefer the one made with white sugar.. why i wonder how do they know? still trying to figure out their sugar love. love to hear your experimants and others..
