Guest guest
After Brittany was attacked at school and diagnosed with a concussion and neck sprain, she stayed home on Friday, resting. She couldn't remember simple things like her phone number, the theme song to Jeopardy! or the words to " Over The Rainbow " . I called the doctor and he said as long as she was not " completely " out of it, he had no problem with her going to school. Today, I allowed her to go to school. 15 minutes before school was out, she called and asked if I could come and sign her out. (I was picking her and the others up today, which is out of the norm, and she knew I was already at the school). She then realized the time and said, " Nevermind, I'll tough it out " . She walked out to the car, took her medication (muscle relaxants and pain/anti-inflamatories) ate the lunch I had brought her (her favorite burger place) and proceeded to come home, walk through the door, hit my bed and she's been asleep ever since. She did, however, complain A LOT about her neck hurting and her " hair " hurting. As for the girls who attacked her.... When I called the school, the Vice Principal said that the girls had been " cited " and the older one had already " withdrawn " from school *that day*. Therefore, she was no longer a student of the school, and their hands were tied as to her punishment. (I don't understand this one, though. IF she was no longer a student of the school, why was she allowed to remain on campus, opening the door for her to " roam around " and wreak such havoc?) Her little sister, and the main assailant, was suspended for five days and is up for expulsion because she was " cited " for assault. Because she was " cited " (I've still not found out exactly what that meant, as the Sheriff at the station I talked to, said it was different for juveniles then for adults and I needed to talk to the Deputy who is filing the report. He is a hard person to get a hold of!), there will more then likely be charges of assault and battery filed against BOTH girls, because I asked there to be. Because of *that* the Sheriff at the station said that I will be hearing from a juvenile court investigator regarding the case. Brittany is not one who bruises easily, however I have been able to document the discoloration around her eyes, the base of her neck and the *purple* bruises on her arm, around her elbow. I am also waiting for our lawyer to contact us. He has evidently been in court for two days and I will be hearing from him shortly. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. This makes me just as sick to my stomach as it makes you. If it wasn't for the fact that this kid is so much smarter then me, and *really* wants career in the Air Force, I wouldn't think twice about home-schooling her. BUT...she's in the AFJROTC, she's got rank and she's so darn smart... she tutors ME in math! (what can I say, I have a great kid!) Again, thank you! Melisa S.
