Guest guest
Thanks Jahjet. I was afraid I would hit a raw nerve. I appreciate your reply. I must agree about the cola. I clean my batteries off with that stuff. I know a lot of brewers don't like the idea of plastics leaching with the high acid that comes with kombucha. Like I said make sure it is food grade and with a 1 or 2 in the triangle. I also am trying a large 1 gal gatorade container. When you purchase vinegar it comes in food grade plastic for some. I use them only a few times three at the most and it is not for long term storage. I'm not looking to bottle it in jars for a super fiz, I usually like it just out of my brewing jar. But a slight fizz after one day does the job. And you can tell by how tight the plastic is getting and it holds back a lot of pressure. My KT doesn't stay around long enough to leach out toxin anyways. Again, it is just the persons choice. We can only share and have someone tell us we are wrong, and move on. I am always looking for something better so you never know when you come across someone with a super idea for the next batch.. WELL WISHES, richard > > Hey i am no expert here ..just concerned. It is that after years of using plastic for water we found out about how BP can cause Alzheimer's. Although they say food grade, i do not trust the industry much.. , you mentioned u use Coca Cola liter jugs..and knowing what is in Coca Cola, they better have made it food grade. That stuff can eat thru your stomach lining. I strictly reuse glass bottles myself,so we are on the same page there.Yes i will not use spigots, since i do not trust plastic in my KT. I have no problem if u use plastic, i know Margret does. It is good to know the pros and cons. We are all entitled to share into this opinion poll. The only plastic that i may trust is the newer baby bottles,(BP free) they are stricter on those, because they are for a more sensetive population. After all we have freedom of choice and free will to do as we wish I am in agreement on that! I brew in recycled old glass, cheep Goodwill variety punch bowls, they like to get rid of them cuz they take up lot of room on their shelves, and who makes punch any more anyhow? I find them perfect, since it has a super large opening, for good aeration! Used them for 30 yrs now....I also use those 2 gallon Ancor Hocking Jars . They are great! Be Happy and enjoy whatever you may choose! > > Luv > Jahjet >
