Sharon, remember that Latin is the mother of Italian. Italian is a " vulgar "

[original meaning of that word is 'common'] form of Latin. It's like British

English and Alabama English. Same language basically, but not quite. LOL

(Hello Mel in 'Bama!!!)

Any road, that's why you thought you heard your Nona talking! But then,

maybe your Nona WAS talking to you as you watched the movie!

Blessings,

Jim

Thanks, Laurie, it was an insightful post, and wasn't more than I wanted to

hear. LOL

My one comment is about the portrayal of Stan as a woman and the use of

children as daemons-these are things that Ann Emmerich, the 18th century

nun, saw in her visions. Gibson has stated that he relied heavily on her

visions. It is shocking, though, isn't it. We NEVER think of Satan as a

woman. And as for the demons being children, well, I've known a few children

who would qualify. LOL

I know this movie is not perfectly scriptural

One more note I just have to include...the satan character. I don't

understand why it was a woman when scripture is clear that Lucifer

was one of the Archangels who was cast out of Heaven and was male.

And it really upset me that they used children to portray demons and

satans cohorts to taunt Judas

Laurie,

Mel said on 20/20 that the character that was satan was not distinctly

male or female....(Kind of like boy george?...LOL) And that he used the

character to show that people were being manipulated by evil. I haven't seen the

movie, but saw the clip in the 20/20 segment. I understand that the bible says

that evil won't be what we expect, so demons in child form would appear innocent

but underneath you have evil. So with Satan's description as the great

deciever...What better way for a demonic presence to take form than a innocent

child?

Have any heard the story that the guy who played Jesus was struck by

lightening during the filming of the crucifixion scene? My sister mentioned it,

but I haven't seen it anywhere. Is it true or an urban legend?

Mel, apparently lightening struck the set of the film 3 different times (on

different days), and one of them smacked the guy who portrays Jesus. He got

up and walked away, according to and interview I saw of him, yet things all

around were melted. He was an agnostic before the filming began, but during

the shooting of the film, he had a conversion experienced.-Many interesting

things to ponder.
