Hi Duchess,

I'd like to know of an exercise tape for people that can't move it and shake it like they used to do also. I can't bend my knees so that's out for me and I can't do stretches or lifts with my right shoulder so some kind of an easy, going routine would be great......or am I limited to stretching for the remote control?????

I just searched under yoga on the internet and there are a ton of tapes out

there for RA, fibro, etc. etc. I don't have time at the moment to really

study them, but I am going to real soon, and I'll post what I learn. There

has to be something out there that could benefit us....For now I must get to

Exercise that helps?

Has anyone discovered an exercise routine that helps rather than makes you more sore and stiff? I used to walk 2 miles about 3x/wk and do a yoga for weight loss tape 2x/wk., but now I'm down to walking 1 mile 2-3x/wk. and it is causing me pain. (Of course this is when my meds were a bit higher - both MTX and pred.) I dropped the yoga tape because that was just plain causing me to have chills, nausea.I'm thinking I need to search the web for a yoga tape for RA and/or fibromyalgia. Anyone have one that helps them rather than hinder? I just believe that all of us need some form of exercise unless we're in a full blown whammy of a flare. I just refuse for the dragon to take exercise away - You big loser, loser, loser dragon (sorry to all our gifted poets for this pathetic literary demonstration - I can do better just not right now - too angry.....) Has anyone discovered an exercise routine that helps rather than makes you more sore and stiff? Thanks for the tip Lynn. I am ready to try something new. Warm water

definitely sounds inviting. Do you take a specific type of class? And

what improvement have you experienced from it? I'm very curious because I'm

Hey Dutchess,

My YMCA offers classes for arthritis but they are very early in the morning so I take regular water exercise in the afternoon. It is about the same as most of the ladies have health issues etc and are older. I have not been consistent enough in my attendance to tell about any improvement. I just know that it feels good and is less stressful. I walk when I can also. It just depends on how I am. I can go and walk 45 minutes one day and be fine and then walk 20 minutes on another day and end up in bed. Who knows!!

Hey,

I shall call someone today to get my water exercises started. My husband !!! It's in the 90's here so I'm going to have him turn on the pool heater and I'll start exercising. I did some water exercises last year when we were here and they gave me quite a bit of pain but I might have over done it. I love to swim and did lap after lap so maybe I'll just shuffle across the shallow end for a few days until my joints get used to some exercise. Thanks for lighting the fire under me.

Hey,

I shall call someone today to get my water exercises started. My husband !!! It's in the 90's here so I'm going to have him turn on the pool heater and I'll start exercising. I did some water exercises last year when we were here and they gave me quite a bit of pain but I might have over done it. I'm going to look into water exercise - the reason I haven't is because I

didn't want to take the time to go to a facility. I'm already slow at

everything I do, and it doesn't seem smart to do something so time

intensive, but........if I might feel significantely better maybe the time

will be worth it. It's worth a try anyways...don't know until you try. I'd

like something to relieve pain besides painkillers...that's getting

Carmen. I remember taking water aerobics (before I had Still's) because I

was too pregnant to do my step aerobics class (I used to be a maniac

exerciser), and I felt worse when I didn't go. I can remember being less

stiff and sore and slept better the days I went versus the days I skipped.

The benefits made me very motivated to go. Water might help many of

us.......perhaps a few of us should support eachother to try a water

Have you tried a TENS unit. I used that a lot for pain and it does help.

Holly and i will be joining the ymca also, and we are going to start walking some days as the weather gets warmer, we are gonna get in this good exercise groove, and then have to take a break while whe has the surgery and recuperates.

Very interesting Trish! I'll take a look at it next time I'm in Wal-Mart or

a place that sells DVDs. I actually woke up today feeling a little human so

I think I might venture for a walk. Those good days are sooooooooooooooo

What is a TENS unit????? I'm very interested in anything that helps with

pain - I'm real tired of painkillers, and........was it that

mentioned deep breathing? I've been trying that too. I'm ready to learn

alternative pain management...Any other ideas? I think someone a couple

months ago mentioned some supplements to relieve pain...Chromium something

or another...I'm going to dig that e-mail out and try some supplements as
