Guest guest
Judy, I so enjoyed watching that video. That's an intense workout! The people are running just as hard as those dogs! What a bunch of great doggies. I can see why you love it. I'm glad that you found something that keeps you working hard towards the next challenge. I'm not particularly competitive, but I do want to achieve more. I guess I like to compete against myself. I hope you're right. If this bike group is cooperative and pleasant, it might turn into my next thing. Who knows? In college and right after graduation I played competitive doubles VB on grass and sand. Soon work, and grad school got in the way (and I could see my knees really getting bad). One of the ways I stayed in shape was biking so I took that to the next " extreme " I never raced but hung out with racers and worked out with local teams (angela you will love it - if they are nice group they are fun). Then I moved to South Carolina, first week there a person was hit by car biking and I got a little scared. While I biked some I had a dog and started doing obedience with her, then I got into agility and that is my new obsession. I train my dogs daily, I run and workout to improve my ability on course (yes you have to run - basically 30 sec sprints), I trial my dogs about 2-3 weekends a month and in March it will be my fourth national event with my older dog... so yes I am a bit obsessive but I love my hobby and it keeps my dogs and me fit. I have can try to upload a video of my last national event in CA (yes I flew my dog to CA twice in fact!). Here is example of the winners (dogs compete by height) at the national event I went to last march. It is difficult for me to make finals (in the 20 inch height over 200 dogs compete) but you can see I have to be quick and agile the handler has to be (fyi you hear the crowd cheer when the do gets on the dog walks as many were pulled into the tunnel underneath.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnZclTCNXnIjudy in DC
Guest guest
I liked it too! I sometimes watch competitions on TV because my sis-in-law used to show horses and dogs (obedience for the dogs). I'm like you, . I compete against me and try not to against other people (mostly because I don't want to fail I think, not because I think there is anything wrong with it). Good luck with the biking group, I've heard those can be a blast to get into! Re: OT-competition Judy, I so enjoyed watching that video. That's an intense workout!
