Good luck with your diet coke challenge, ! Since you may be dependent on the caffeine, try to wean yourself off slowly. If you were having 4 a day , maybe go down to 3 a day for a week, then 2 a day, then 1 a day. You may get headaches if you cut it out of your diet too quickly. I know whenever I try to wean myself off coffee I have to do it slowly or else i can't think straigtht (no headaches, just can't concentrate!)

You can do this - I have actually weaned myself down to ONE cup of coffee a day. I used to have several - maybe 3 or 4? Sometimes I'll have a second cup, but usually only on the weekends.

I can't imagine diet coke not tasting good! I just started a self-imposed diet coke restriction today though. Yesterday, trying to find ways to save money now that Miriam has started orthodontic treatment ( already is in it) I added up how much I spend a month on diet coke and realized I could cut almost $30 off my monthly grocery bill if I cut myself down to 1 or less per day (from 3 or 4). Today I had one in the morning (I don't do coffee) and was dying in mid-afternoon but didn't have one. I only had one more in the evening because I went out with friends and got one at the restaurant (I ate dinner at home) and one of my girlfriend's bought that one for me as a thank you for being her daughter's Brownie leader! I purposely only put one in the fridge for tomorrow too because it will keep me from drinking more (I won't drink warm diet coke unless I am super desperate). I realized today how much of a habit it is

for me to pop one open at various times of day, whether I really wanted one or not. I do get lots of water in most days too but often I'll go for a diet coke instead of water even though I know full well the water would be much more helpful for me. This isn't going to be easy but maybe I'll get to a point where diet coke doesn't taste good either!

laura and judy,i would like to lose 6 pounds by july 30. i know it will happen if i eat more zuchinni pasta and only eat the regular kind as a treat (i never thought i would consider spaghetti a treat, lol). trying to control my intake of bread products--pretty successful with this lately. had a diet coke yesterday and to tell the truth i don't even care for the taste of it anymore--just drinking water, san pelligrino, or iced tea is good enough. i saw a recipe for tea ice cubes which i may make soon--would taste good in seltzer or mineral water.stacey
