My News from the U of W

Good morning everyone,

Ok, ok...here's what I found out yesterday....NOTHING NEW ! as far as I go. They spent 4 hours with me, poking, pulling, pushing, thumping, sticking, and it all boils down to the "process of elimination and waiting game" yet again.... The University docs want to do their own "thing" and so as it turns out I will have to wait until the 10th of Feb, 2 days after my 42nd b-day to get any more answers. The doc I was supposed to see was ill, so I saw a resident and another doc from his dept. and they did a real good job going over all the paper work that I took and all the paperwork the other docs sent them. They played the 1000 question game and all they would say is that I have some characteristics of Stills disease, but....it could be other things as well. They took 8 vials of blood and sent me on my way. They did find that my spleen and liver are enlarged again, they are hoping to find out why from the blood workup. So, I am still at square one with these folks, but that's ok.

At least I did find out one good piece of info for all of us Stills patients...the U of W is working on a blood test for Stills that will help in the diagnostic process, they wanted to run it on me but they couldn't because they had no baseline blood work, and it is also still in the research stages, so maybe next month I can participate in that study.

I was told that there has been a number of people in the past yr who have been diagnosed with stills thru the U of W, this has baffled them since it is such a rare disease, but maybe it's not as rare as they once thought. hummmm

Anyhow, that was my day. I hurt a little from the physical exam they did. My joints didn't hurt when I went in, but this morning they do....whats their motto, "do no harm" well I sure will let them know how I felt this morning and ask them to be careful next time.
