You are in luck with your husband needing to be close to Winder. The Gwinnett

Co. school system is one of the best in the state and I would definetly

recommend the Dacula/Hamilton Mill area. Not only is the Dacula school district

wonderful for special needs kids, the area is one of the good parts of the

county, along with Suwanee, with appreciating real estate.

Great Ped Dr. Abrams Spaulding Drive will not force vax.

Pine from Summit was our ABA therapist and was excellent

although hard to reach since she started the school.

Inquire with them Vince Carbone is coming in March and they are

sponcering. It will be a great VB workshop and you may meets some VB

therapists as well.

My son has a Chairi malformation as well I have some info on that.

Be aware Atlanta is not a bustling city of BioMed.

Most of the neuros are opposed for the most part to BioMed.

Gwinett though does have good schools and ABA.

Whole Foods and Harry carry GFCF/SCD

I belong to a Co-op and most Krogers have a healthfood section with

many GFCF items.

Shop carefully for a neuro on the Chiari issue. We are going to do

all our Chiari evals with Feldstien in NYC. Our Neuro declared no

abnormalities and I found the Chiari on the report 2 years later.

There is a lovely Hyperbaric Place in Cumming that is very in

expensive that is proven to help CP www.hypertc.com . We just

finished 40 dives they are 30/dive.

Hi Beverly-I live in Gwinnett. My 25 month

old son is ASD and receives OT, PT, ST, ABA,

Music therapy and works with a behavior psychologist weekly. My husband is a

realtor and he would be happy to give you any info you need if researching

certain areas as well as share info on all of our doctors and therapists. My

son is young but I have done so much research that I could pass along a great

Hi ! If you received a partial email from me earlier I am sorry. I was half way through when I obviosuly hit a key and poof it was gone and I could not find it. Anyway, thank you for taking time to reply to my post. I just tried to call you but your line was busy so thought I'd write an email since Dad is out playing w/Jake and I have a few minutes. Do you have an ABA program for your son? Do you know any ABA/VB therapists who might need hours? I met and observed at Summit last Friday. She seems nice and good but we can't afford hers or Shauna's $45 an hour rate. We are trying to set up a 25-30 hour a week in home ABA program and there's no way we could pay $1,100-$1,300 a week. As for the Chiari I wanted to go see Feldstien but BCBS didn't have him listed as a provider. We did however fly to Chicago and saw Frim. So far we have not had to have any

surgeries but I always wonder if it would make a difference or not. Dr. Frim said that he has seen some ASD kids improve a lot after surgery and some not much or at all. Nothing like having 2 dx's that have such vague outcomes and therapies. Did you happen to read an article written by Beth Palo? She has a child w/ASD and ACM. She had to shop to get a surgeon to perform her son's surgery since she felt it was needed. She went to Feldstein and he did the surgery. I have talked to Beth and she insists the surgery is responsible for her son be a totally different and highly VERBAL child. I spoke to her 6 months post op. Anyway, I have also heard from parents who are on surgery 2 or 3 and wish they had never done the surgery. Have you heard of the DUKE study showing an increase in dual dx of ACM and ASD? Anyway, I wouldn't doubt that they aren't somehow related. Jake's herniation is 14.5mm which has increased from 10mm at 15 months old. His MRI does show some CSF

restriction but no syrnix or anything so we just keep doing periodic MRI's and see what happens. Did you say the dives were $30, or as that a typo and you meant $300?? Have you noticed anything? Does your son also have CP? You'd never know our son has it but he does. It is supposedly from the PVL. I am going to the Carbone workshop. I wasn't going to since I have attended several and had a lot of parent training but everyone insists I must hear/see Carbone since he is such a motivational speaker. Well I think that's it for now.
