Guest guest
Hi All, The sun is shining, the air is soft, the birds are singing (and the Jays are squawking), the trees are leafing out and the flowers are in bloom -- and I am getting better! I still have a substantial amount of pain, which I don't like. I am staying very proactive in managing it. I am up and about (albeit carrying my little vac everywhere I go). I will be driving for the first time tomorrow. I do easy housework, some cooking and prep, personal care...my family is missing my work! I am a month out from the tt/hr, and I know I am going to live, in fact, I already know I am going to be happy with this surgery (once the wounds are closed). I have some perfectly delightful home health care nurses who have used me as a personal growth Guinea pig -- no one has ever seen a vac used on such a complicated (not bad, just unusual) closure. The vac dressing changes take about an hour to perform but the nurses are getting faster. I am getting " big, beefy tissue " filling in the empty places. LOL When I remove the vac and the dressings to shower, I bleed which is a great thing...vascular energy at the site of the healing! I probably could go out and demonstrate the vac in any situation and come up a winner! Weight -- hmmm. Preop, 183 pounds. Dr. K removed 12 pounds of tissue, although with swelling and water, that wasn't easy to see until now. Today's weight 166 pounds -- ME 166. I am down 144 pounds from November 2002 when I had the GR-DS. I am like a ravening wolf when it comes to eating, and still the weight just keeps going down. I find my body needs calories and I am keeping my protein intake VERY high. I talked to Dee yesterday and she said Dr. K is very happy with the reports he is getting from home health care on the wound healing. (No, I haven't taken photos -- ewwuuuuuuu!) Hugs and blessings, Ann

Guest guest
Hi Ann! (*wave*) This is so wonderful to hear! I'm so glad you're feeling better and are happy with your results! I must say it took me close to a year to get to the " happy with my results " stage and I had no complications at all! You are a courageous, good-humored, inspiring woman! I hope one day I can meet you in person. Hugs!
