Don't worry about it. Each person is different. Most lose a lot during the first couple weeks then hit a plateau and don't lose anything for weeks or even months, then start losing again. In some people this first plateau hits sooner than in others. Just stay with the program. While the weight (scale) is a fair indicator and most people post those numbers, the important ones are the BMI and the body fat ratio. One of the reasons the scales seems to stop moving is that, as you exercise more, you are burning fat but are replacing it with muscle. Your weight appears to hit a plateau but you are actually losing fat and improving the lean to fat ratio, a very good thing. So.. Don't be too concerned about the scale right now. As long as you follow the program, eat the proteins first, get in your fluids, and exercise, the weight WILL come off. Jerry

My first one I thought what the heck, and ate some fat off a steak and lo and behold it kicked started my losing again.Just remember I am not recommending that. YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT,none of us lose the same,hu Sharon??LOL Sharon and I were the same weight at time of surgery. I have gotten down to 178 her I think 182,but she wears smaller sizes than I do. pout,pout..lol We are all so different.. So relax in knowing and owning that this is going to work. Now for the reality check. I never, ever, ever lost " like everyone else " . Ever. I just went from plateau to plateau. I would go days and weeks without loosing, and then all of a sudden I would lose 4 lbs or 6lbs or even 10 lbs in just a few days. Then back to the plateau. I even at 5-6 mos had an 8 week plateau that scared the buggars out of me. But it passed. (By the way, I have used that as my motto.... " this too shall pass " ....and it does.) I know by experience it isnt easy, and it is very hard not to compare yourself to others. And it can get discouraging. But it does happen. For some of us it is just a longer struggle. I am out over 2 years now and still want to lose another 20 lbs. Talk about struggle...it is way harder now. But it does happen as I lost 5 more lbs just before my 2 year and I hadnt lost any since July. So Hang in there and try- really try to enjoy the journey. Did you measure yourself before surgery? If so measure again. When the scales werent moving i found the inches were. It kept me from hary-kary. If you didnt. Do it now. It will surprize you in a couple of months. You are doing great. Keep up the protien, water and exercise and a little fat might get things moving too. But be sure you dont have to be anywhere the next morning as you will spend a little extra time in the bathroom... Sharon in Onyx

Guest guest
Now I have a different problem.Monday I went to my PCP and when he said I'd lost 6lbs from Dec 29 to Jan 26 it scared me. I'm happy where I am. I started working and I can work in the warehouse and not look for a chair and take a break every few minutes. I stocked shelves for 3 hrs on Monday and never took a break. I can shop my best friend into the ground (she's a size 6). I feel like I'll float away sometimes. I'm happy here and I have 12 more months to loose. Scary huh. Guest guest
) I had mayonaise in with my tuna - would you consider that enough fat? Or are you talking about eating something cooked in oil? Hate to be dumb - but I guess I am ) That may be enough for you to get things moving. It wouldnt be for me but my body has adjusted somewhat to the surgery. Go easy, try this. If you dont notice a difference in the bathroom in the morning try something fried, or like Pat eat the fat off your steak instead of throwing it out. I always eat the fat on my steak, pork chops, etc. I love bacon. KFC crispy chicken...leave the skin on your chicken (I always do. It is the best part...lol) Any of these may help you. I will have to admit, when I need a good cleaning out, I eat a Krispy Kreme donut...no others effect me the same way they do. Or cheetos....that always works. We are all so different, you just need to try different things...but go slow and try one thing at a time. One, so you know what works and two, so you dont regret it the next day. It also helps to know what to avoid if you have to be somewhere early in the morning the next day. lol hth Sharon in Onyx

Guest guest
KFC crispy chicken...leave the skin on your > chicken (I always do. It is the best part...lol) Sharon, you evil woman! I cannot tolerate any deep fried skin stuff these days, just the thought makes me sick to my stomach. It would kill me to eat that stuff. Maybe that is why I am so small now, but I have really changed my eating habits. If I eat that stuff I will be " cleaned out " all right. Diarrhea. I prefer the natural action of my sprouted grain bread, daily normal BMs. Marta who is eating peeze porridge...four days old right now, unrefrigerated, to boot! Do as I say, not as I do.
