- I used to get the rash after the fevers stopped too (though it was much worse w/ the high fevers). Like you, I used to notice it most often after a hot bath or shower. The rash kinda lingered for a while, gradually appearing less and less (this was back in 1990 - 1994). I haven't had the rash for a long time (knock on wood).

One wierd thing I have is I get alot is flushing of the skin (for lack of a better term) on my face - mainly my cheeks, eyelids and sometimes temples. My skin gets fire red and its very uncomfortable, sometimes actually pretty sore. This definitely has a hormone connection and maybe related to being on pred too?? It sometimes gets really bad if I am in a hot room or take too hot a shower. Also usually worse when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes I look really strange, as just one cheek and eyelid will be totally red! Can't find anything that seems to help? Anyone else have this???

Hi everyone,

I was hoping I could get some input on the Still's rash. I used to get the rash when I got the high fevers. The fevers actually stopped 2 months ago (I hope I'm not jinxing myself!), but I still get the rash once in a while. I noticed it a couple of times while I was in the shower, so I'm assuming the heat from the shower brought it out. And then a few hours later, it will go away, just like it used to with the fevers. So I guess my question is, why do I still get the rash sometimes? I'm still on medication for my chronic symptoms (joint/muscle pain and swelling), so I know I'm not in complete remission. Does the fever mean that the disease is still active? I just think it's weird that I get it without the fevers like before. Thanks and hope everyone is feeling good!

Hi ! here. I've been on medications for 2 years now for

Still's, and the systemic symptoms (fever, throat, etc.) have been gone ever

since the " initial blast " of prednisone. I'm only on 15mg MTX currently,

and I still have the salmon rash appear faintly on my calves only. It shows

up when I walk, after a shower, and especially when I am overtired. My

rheumy out in Seattle that I trust to understand Still's disease says that

is because the disease is still active. I take that as...If I were to stop

the MTX I would be in a full blown whammy of a flare! In other words, I

think the 15mg of MTX keeps my Still's Disease under somewhat control. I've

been on a great deal complaining of the soreness, etc. lately and go to see

a new rheumy on 2-5th. I hope to try something new to help with my

soreness, stiffness, and fatigue - I'll keep everyone informed as it might

help you or others.

I have respect for where you live this time of year - Buffalo? I spent the

first 19 years of my life in Rochester, NY. Those are rough winters - you

gotta be tough to make it through those! Stay warm....Chris
