Wow… I want to grow sprouts too… Will go into that when Im done with school.

I wanted to make my own water kefir but heard that with Kombucha they can cross

contaminate… Too hot here to grow my own veggies although I used to when

living in Illinois… something I miss very much but happier in hot Arizona than

cold and humidy Illinois!!! Ick!

Sipping on almost perfect Kombucha Tea in a wine glass at the moment and oh so

happy! Yes good fizz too!

Try store bought first and make sure you like them. I am milk intolerant

hence my interest in water kefir. I tried coconut water kefir and LOVED it

but at 7 something for only 8oz... once was enough... I was worried about

cross contaminating but since Patti s been doing them and shes still

alive!!! I'll check into ordering Kefir grains! She's got me drooling now!

I've only ever seen Milk Kefir (so far).

I figure seen as I like KT, and yogurt, I'll be pretty safe. :) If I don't,

Try Whole Foods that's where I first discovered Coconut Water Kefir but yes

I agree if you like KT yer safe!

I should also try Goat's Milk... the breakfast smoothies does sound

good!... mmm what about rice milk? Almond milk... im not crazy about them

but sometimes buy them for bakingmaking other stuff and have some left

sitting in my ref!

Sorry Im off the track and don't want to get in trouble so about Kombucha...

Let's see...

Heres a great link about cross contaminating between Kefir and Kombucha...

www.happyherbalist.com and yer right.. I read somewhere that its ok as long

as you keep them separated... like few feet apart!

Lunch time (kale salad kale being highest on ANDI score) glass of KT... yum

I found mine by doing a google search.. I found this website that has an

international exchange & the same person I got my scoby from had the kefir

grains! Lucky! woohoo! I'll see if I can find it & send to y'all back channel.

I do have a question about one of my brews. I bought a scoby off of ebay & it

was very small. The instructions that came with it said to add some vinegar

since it didnt have a whole lot of starter tea. I know that my first batch

wont be very good so I plan to chunk it except for some starter. So the

question is.........how long do I let this 1st batch brew??

Thanks,

Patti

My mom scoby was thin and was only half a scoby. I did put some extra white

vinegar in as there wasn't a ton of starter tea. My first batch took a while,

but it came out just fine. I wouldn't chuck it without tasting first! :)

My mom scoby was thin and was only half a scoby. I did put some extra white

vinegar in as there wasn't a ton of starter tea. My first batch took a while,

but it came out just fine. I wouldn't chuck it without tasting first! :)

Thanks,

Patti

Gotta take care of the pocket book as well.  I just got the last (maybe the

only ones) three 2 gallon anchor hocking jars at my Walmart.  I don't think

there are any mom and pop stores with any of these.. It was either walmart or

order online anyway

You could use goats milk. I cant drink cows milk as i have IBS and it affects

me. I can drink kefir made from cows milk. I think its lactose that kefir eats

which causes the problems of most people that cant drink cows milk.
