Guest guest
A couple of other questions & suggestions in addition to what offered:You mentioned that you're on Prezista, Truvada, Ziagen and Norvir. That's five drugs--why so many? Do you have resistance issues? If not, you should be able to switch to a standard 3 drug regimen--I'd suggest either Truvada plus unboosted Reyataz (monitor carefully at first to see if you have sufficient drug levels--I take mine twice a day) or Viramune. If you do need a boosted protease, Gilead has a new booster that should be approved sometime later this year to replace Norvir that we hope will have a somewhat better lipid profile, but it remains to be seen. As we get older (yes, boys & girls--it happens to all of us if we're lucky) the metabolic problems are going to creep up. Heed 's advice about a low-carb diet and plenty of exercise-a combination of both aerobic & resistance. For the acid reflux, there's some thought that a low-acid diet can help--worth a try to relieve the misery. Good luck & keep us posted...Jeff frustrated ... 17 years after Posted by: " dcwvemail " dcwvemail@... dcwvemail Mon Jan 23, 2012 6:44 am (PST) I've been poz for coming up on 17 years and am really frustrated.VL undetectable, CD4 275 as it's been for 17 yearson Prezista, Truvada, Ziagen, low-dose Norvir- acid reflux(held at bay with omeprazole) - high cholesterol(maintained with crestor)- ridiculously high tri-glycerides always around 1500(fenofibrate, Lovaza but no help)- depression(sometimes OK with paroxetine)- allergies(controlled with hydroxyzine) - double hip replacement 5 years ago at age 39 due to AVNWithin the past year ...- high blood pressure(maintained with Losartan)- type 2 Diabetes(just started Metformin)- severe financial difficulty I'm finding it extremely difficult to follow my meds regimen.I'm just simply tired and the number of pills it seem to be a meal alone. My Dr doesn't have any options since I need to be on everything?
