My mind has been fried lately from work and from studying for my certification. I just have not been able to do anything mentally challenging as far as workouts go which almost limits me to not so physically challenging workouts. And sometimes I just like to get on something and get in a few minutes of fitness. Sometimes I like to watch movies, sometimes I like to burn calories on the phone - (and maybe I can figure a unique way of going slow while on the laptop. So bike.

Terry also, to his credit, has been actually trying to workout lately much more consistently than ever before. He would prefer to do a cardio machine to videos. He tries to use the elliptical but our elliptical trainer sucks (its going on craiglist to help finance the bike). The eliptical is loud and rickety and all the reviews of this bike say its quiet and sturdy. Which is a big bonus for me because Terry has to workout while I sleep. So no more creak creak creak keeping me up at night.

I still feel lousy about it though. Excited but very guilty. I might cut up one of my smaller credit cards to console myself.

it. i never thought i would like the treadmill but if i had the space and money i would get one for my home too! it also sounds like you have a

plan of replacing one thing with another so that works as well.

Congrats on the bike, a!

I'm won't be of any help *not* enabling you to get cycling/spinning workouts

though - so if you *want* me to enable you with a list of videos to look

for...lemme know, lol.

Oh, wait - you're on kineticflix, right? They have a bunch of good ones!

http://www.kineticflix.com/genre/cycling/1

I hear good things about the Spinning branded ones, and Mindy Mylrea's usually

get good reviews, too - esp Cycle Strong & Super Cycle. I HIGHLY recommend RIDES

Vol 2 for the great rock music, if you enjoy that style. I haven't done RIDES

yet, but previewed the whole thing while putzing aroud in the gym one night.

Cycle All Terrain is also on my to-do list, along with Real Rides Race Day.

Spinnervals has lots of fans as well (Hi !), and don't forget about

discountworkouts.com. I'm looking forward to trying their beginner cycling dvd,

since I've been so pleased with their tmill and weights workouts so far.

Anyway, happy riding!

Total enabler,

Sara

Thanks Kassia!

Terry's friend asked him to run in a race with him and I think that has helped

him motivation wise. Boy peer pressure. Its not a triatholon but it sounds kind

of similar to it. Biking will be involved. Since Terry gets home late and sleeps

late, he has to work out late at night (we're both night owls).

I'm thinking I should sell some of my lesser/never used DVDs. I'm actually

thinking of having a garage sale because I just have SO much junk, but the

thought of it exhausts me!

I must visit your Goodwill!! Ours is TOTALLY overprices. They sell VHS for $4!!

Exercise bikes for $90 that are just awful and don't get me started on the

clothes. We have so many folks into recycling and reusing and vintage here that

they can totally get away with it.

I still shop there sometimes, but its not a big savings versus savvy online

shopping.(kmart.com clearance)

Thank goodness I can rent those videos Sara, or I'd be whipping out more

plastic!! ;-) I'll add em to my queue.

LOL, yeah, there are some nice Goodwills around here, for sure! That one I got

the bike from sells VHS for 49 cents, heh. They also had an upright bike, but it

looked pretty flimsy. I don't remember the price on that one, but I think it was

about the same as the bohemeth I got, heh. I think the clothes prices are good

but haven't shopped those in a while, and Sun & Mon are half price day on

certian color tags. Oh, wait, I did get some pants for work (plain black and

plain white) for two dollars each a few times. Just my price! We also scored a

Fisher mountain bike at another thrift store a couple months ago for four

bucks! Yep, f-o-u-r.

Teehee, yeah, had I not remembered about kineticflix, I would have tried to hold

off with the titles. But once I saw they had so many that I already have (I went

thru the spinning/cycling research & buying phase a few months back) I couldn't

shut up...LMAO!

Good luck with the popcorn, heee...

Sara ;)

Hi a,

I think the bike is a good idea - for the reasons you mentioned. I have actually been using mine and my TM at least once or twice a week. We have a recumbent bike b/c that is what DH wanted (although he never uses the bike, but has recently started using the TM). I would have preferred an upright bike, and maybe some day I'll trade in for one!

I do like both the TM and the Bike for the ability to get a decent cardio workout in that is fairly gentle to the joints and doesn't require a whole lot of mental concentration! :) It works for me!Donna

Wow Stacey, I hoped you asked for a price check! ;-)

The one very good thing about me being the breadwinner is that I buy what I

want. Otherwise all our money would go towards blue rays and man toys and I

would never get shoes or workout dvds. Never!!!
