Angelina Jolie pays a fortune for her "cleansing." The service is free with the scope!JB

I'm still having trouble understanding how exposure to DNA-damaging ionizing radiation is better for one than a standard colonoscopy. Maybe someone could explain it in simple terms. From: J Barrowster <barrowster@...>Subject: Re: Have a Nice Colonoscopy: New Test Eliminates Probing, Laxative Date: Thursday, May 17, 2012, 9:59 AM

"I'm still having trouble understanding how exposure to DNA-damaging ionizing radiation is better for one than a standard colonoscopy. Maybe someone could explain it in simple terms."Virtual colonoscopies are done either with MRI or CT. If under MRI, which would seem the better choice for many reasons, there is no "ionizing radiation."Virtual colonoscopy allows the operator to view the colon from different angles. There is no anesthesia, which does have risks, and the patient can go right back to work, home, etc. There is no need to insert a colonoscope, so there is no risk of perforation. Plus, if there is a big growth or obstruction, a scope might be unable to get past it.JB
