OT: Testing for Lyme

My sister has picked up active Lyme - unfortunately bitten by a tick in rural

France. Got the classic bulls-eye rash etc poor thing.

She's been taking the antibiotics and doing a ton of other stuff (any more

suggestions always welcome!) but her main question is where is the best place to

get tested in the UK? Is Breakspear any good for this?

Understandably she'd like to check she's clear before stopping the antibiotics

rather than chance it -- which is of course is what's being suggested by the

NHS/ her GP. No testing being offered.

Testing for Lyme is notoriously difficult and unreliable -- and I know a

proportion of our kids are suspected of having chronic Lyme so someone on here

might be able to advise. My sister lives in Swansea but will obvs travel as

necessary.

Thanks very much in advance.

Breakspear do test for Lyme – probably her best bet.

Lilias Ahmeira treats a lot of people with Lyme and is a

great person to contact for treatments.

KiB500 has had great success at getting rid of Lyme –

I have a large power point presentation on it that I can email you if you like.

Many thanks

Thanks so much Sandy. My sister has joined the Euro Lyme group which looks very useful - I didn't know about that.Sharon xSent using BlackBerry® from OrangeFrom: "Sandy and Tim" <sandyandtim@...>Sender: Autism Treatment Date: Wed, 30 Jun 2010 07:17:35 -0000<Autism Treatment >Reply Autism Treatment Subject: Re: OT: Testing for Lyme Hi Sharon,This would be a good place to askEuroLyme/also http://www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/and for interest ...lymestrategies/?yguid=300738048As I understand, the important thing is to take a longer course of antibiotics initially.Sandyxx
