That said, the Trek speedo that I used for over 10 years was still functioning fine, but I wanted something that displayed cadence. And, since I'm a leisure rider, I didn't want to spend a ton, so I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019H6K6Q/ref=wms_ohs_product I also liked that you can mount the sensor on your back wheel (not always an option) since I wanted to use it with my bike trainer. Of course, then I ended up getting a bike trainer that had it's own speedo display, but oh, well. The cadence was the important part for me. HTH! There would be a seperate sensor that attaches to your pedal to output that information, in addition to the sensor that goes on the tire. Cadence is simply the speed of your pedal rotation in RPM. And, while it was never something I was too concerned about before, since I now want to also use my bike trainer with cycling/spinning videos, cadence is often referenced in Spinervals and other cycling workouts. I figured it would be interesting to compare cadence info while using the trainer to riding on the trail. HTH!
