Guest guest
We are seeing really good gains and is 13, started just before his 12th birthday. In some ways I wish I had started sooner but then again we are getting absolutley no yeast flare ups, he is strong and coping well, he was a complete mess in his younger days and would not have coped with chelation I am sure, there was no room for any more problems with his gut, just my tuppence worth. Guest guest
Kirsty you have just made me cry again, so lovely to hear kids progressing so well. For all the newbies:- I was so nervous about starting chelation and it took me about six months to start because of this fact, now we are on round 24 and Harry is making nice steady gains, lots more vocalisation, so anyone who is at the stage of wanting to start, don't be nervous Andy Cutlers protocol (1/8mg - 1/2mg per pound of body weight) is safe because like Kirsty said it is low dose chelation. Harry weighed 35lbs when we started so i gave him 5mg of DMSA every 3 hours in day and 4 hourly at night starting 4pm on a Friday after school to the following Monday 8am before school, i did 6 weeks of DMSA alone, then added in ALA (at 5mg also). Harry has been doing so well that i have been able to slightly increase both the DMSA & ALA but seeing as his weight has increased to he is probably still on the same dose. My only disapointment was not starting sooner. xx Autism Treatment From: greenkirsty1@...Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2010 09:56:19 +0000Subject: Andy Cutler Chelation Update - to help newcomers Dear all,I find i am normally just posting questions on here but i wanted to give an update on my son Sam since he has started Andy Cutler Chelation. We are currently on round 19 and Sam is on 10mg ALA and 5mg of DMSA for 72 hour rounds.Sam's language is what we are seeing the most gains in. His language is so much more normal if this makes sense. We have small normal conversations. He makes comments to me now all the time that a typical boy would make like "don't do that, its annoying" "leave my toys, stop clearing up, it makes me angry" His expressive language is what is rocketing. Sometimes abit too much!! I constantly get told i am fired, is very defiant etc etc....but from what he has come gained in speech from what he had....is amazing. He only started talking when he was 5.Also his behaviour is alot more normal, the aggression has gone right down. Sam was 8 last month and we had a birthday party for him and so many people commented on how he was so relaxed and how he understood everything and they all had conversations with him.I showed him last week the presentation i was going to do at the TA conference and he told me he didn't like the video (an early one of him screaming and upset, basically how he communicated with us 24/7 in the days before we started working with him). He liked all the recent stuff on it though. When i came through the door sunday evening after driving home from the conference, he told me he had missed me, he loved me and that daddy is fired! I'll leave you with a little moment that has made the last few rounds worth it. On Sam's birthday when i tucked him in, he turned to me and said "mum, it was the best birthday ever"Hopefully this will encourage newcomers to look into the safe, low dosing of Andy Cutler. Guest guest
If you join the forum recoveryfromautism, they have Documents you can download in the file section that are extremley easy to read. Especially the one called " How to chelate children safely " They also have the tables of the vitamins and supplements they need to be on before you start and how to dose and schedules. Cant wait to get started. - thanks for the hemisphere link as I know that Jack does actually digest some of the plastic he is chewing as I see it come out the other end!! It is a real obsession with him and he has to have one in each hand, this morning he rooted through the kitchen drawer and found two Nurofen syringes and started chewing on them, when he is chewing them he is banging them together!!! The banging doesnt bother me but chewing and eating them really does. Guest guest
Hi MarinaThe constant chewing might be parasites or low zinc. I would try a parasite cleanse first (there is a file on the recoveryfromautism group about products and timings), I used a clove, black walnut and wormwood product from Nature's Answer which worked well here. You need to start four days before the full moon which is Sunday 19th. If that doesn't fix it I would increase his zinc slowly. Sometimes different forms of zinc work better than others but you just have to keep trying them to see.Autism Treatment From: marinavrahimi@...Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2010 10:48:53 +0000Subject: Re: Andy Cutler Chelation Update - to help newcomers Hi Kirsty - thanks for that info will be helpful to see it in an easy format! Guest guest
Hi - I seem to remember Jack having no parasites but very yeasty on his first tests so do you think it could be zinc??? He has the Kirkmans Zinc magnesium cream that I rub into his back at night time. Marina x On Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 2:26 PM, McReynolds <canadacath@...> wrote:  Hi Marina The constant chewing might be parasites or low zinc. Sometimes different forms of zinc work better than others but you just have to keep trying them to see.
Sometimes different forms of zinc work better than others but you just have to keep trying them to see. Guest guest
We are thinking about starting Chelation but my doctor tells me my son will have to swallow a capsule of the DMSA to do the initial testing. My son doesn't take pills. The pharmacy told me there is no other way to do the test. I asked if we could use the creme, but I was told that would not working for testing, only treatment. Any ideas? > > Dear all, > I find i am normally just posting questions on here but i wanted to give an update on my son Sam since he has started Andy Cutler Chelation. Guest guest
HiI don't know exactly what test your doctor means??? I hope it isn't a challenge test as this is dangerous and can cause redistribution of metals/regression. There is absolutely no need to do any test first. And yes of course you can empty the pills into a drink or applesauce or yoghurt or whatever your son likes - he does not have to be able to swallow pills. Please join the recoveryfromautism group and read the files. There is probably information there about challenge testing too and how dangerous and unnecessary it is. If your doctor wants you to do this test, I would be seriously worried about the timing and dosage of the chelators they are recommending too. Andy Cutler chelation is the only protocol that is safe as it uses very low doses and is dosed according to its half life so there is no redistribution of metals. The DAN protocol is not safe. Please post again if you need any more information. Chelation has been by far the best thing we've done but it has to be the Cutler protocol. You do not need a doctor to do it, most of the people on the group are doing it without a doctor/DAN practitioner.Autism Treatment From: lynnadeiter@...Date: Thu, 16 Sep 2010 13:22:00 +0000Subject: Re: Andy Cutler Chelation Update - to help newcomers We are thinking about starting Chelation but my doctor tells me my son will have to swallow a capsule of the DMSA to do the initial testing. Guest guest
Lynn, If your doctor is saying you need to run a test in order to determine whether or not your child is toxic, a challenge test is a poor choice for a two good reasons. First, a large one time dose of any chelator will move a lot of metals in almost anyone. Healthy people without metal toxicity, for example. One group of people that don't seem to always move a lot of metals in a challenge test are children with asd and huge problems detoxifying--I've read about lots of kids who showed no metals on these sorts of tests, only to go on and chelate with great results. So, your child could not have metal problems but still excrete a large amount of metals. Your child could have problems and excrete a large amount of metals. Your child could have problems and excrete virtually no metals. How will you know what is the case? Second, a large bolus dose can pick up a lot of metals that aren't actually causing harm, and then because the body cannot excrete all of them, they settle back into other places, running the very real risk that they settle back into the brain, the endocrine system, and other vulnerable systems. This is what happened to many of our kids in the first place. The harm done by this sort of thing is not always immediately apparent--ask any parent whose kid was shot full of thimerosal. For my own son, the damage didn't become fully known for months. I'd also like to comment on the advice you've been given that transdermal chelation can treat but cannot be used to test. This makes no sense to me. If you do test with oral chelation, then believe that it works, why would moving to a completely different form of chelation be a good option? Wouldn't it make more sense to test with the form of chelation that you intend to use long term, to have a better idea if it is going to work? I would suggest that you do a few safe rounds of chelation per Cutler protocol and see what happens. If you want to test after that, wait 4 weeks and run a porphyrins test. You run absolutely no risk with porphyrin testins and can get a better view of what is going on inside your child. If the doctor won't give you dmsa to chelate because you won't do it his/her way, you can easily get it on your own. His language is so much more normal if this makes sense. We have small normal conversations. He makes comments to me now all the time that a typical boy would make like " don't do that, its annoying " " leave my toys, stop clearing up, it makes me angry " His expressive language is what is rocketing. Sometimes abit too much!! I constantly get told i am fired, is very defiant etc etc....but from what he has come gained in speech from what he had....is amazing. He only started talking when he was 5. > > > > Also his behaviour is alot more normal, the aggression has gone right down.
