, What many of these folks don’t realize is that the CARE act is discretionary meaning it can pulled at any whim and sent back to DC like the High Rail Moneys were.There won’t be any food bank, Meds or anything else.I am hearing rumblings of just that event happening. Without the meds, you won’t need anything else because you will be DEAD. Also, why should advocates get dragged through the mud if no one else cares? Maybe those people watching TV or working out at the gym can watch it on CNN when it does happen.

As the number of people going back to work increases, and improving health puts the HIV concerns on the back burner for the many, the number of people out on the front lines is declining. There aren't many new faces at meetings, etc.For years, I have been a community representative to the Aids Clinical Trials Group. It's an activity I highly recommend. You get to know almost all of the big names in US HIV/AIDS research, how the organization works, and have an impact on the trials that are done.This year, there is a dramatic drop off in applications from the US. People have worked so hard to get people with HIV represented in the trials process, but fewer and fewer are interested in doing the ground work.JB
