Guest guest
I'm still around, getting in a good amount of workouts, was away this past weekend, and spent an extra day in MHT due to a snowstorm. Going back to work at an airline. Guest guest
Hey ...I'm still here, reading all the posts LOL.....I've been doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women program and I'm currently on day 11 of stage 1. This is a really great program and I'm seeing some good strength gains, its a 6 month program and its actually the first time I've stuck with a program past the first week, I'm in week 3 now, and I'm really enjoying it. I still do the occasional DVD for cardio, but nothing other than that. I've also signed up and have started a Medical Transcription course which is taking quite a bit of time on top of working and exercising, so I don't get to visit every day any more. I plan on working from home when we eventually move to Vancouver Island to retire, so this course will allow me to gain experience and get my own business up and running. Life is just so darn busy.....I've also been watching the Olympics and cheering on our Canadian athletes......I promise to say hi more often and give updates on NROLFW if there's an interest in it..... Guest guest
Hi Andie!I have NROLFW -I will do it one of these days - how heavy do you need to go - I think that is my concern - that I don't actually have heavy enough weights to do the program properly! :)Interesting about the medical transcription - I have thought about that or medical billing - right now I do have a job that i can do from home and I work at home 2X per week - but it is always good to have new skills and honestly, I don't think I could ever go back to a rigid schedule. Even on the days I go in the office, I kind of have my own schedule. It is nice, and I hope it can last a good long time! Guest guest
Hi Donna.....for NROLFW I bought a cheap 100lb barbell set and some 20lb and 25lb DB's plus a cheap squat rack. The program has you starting with comfortable weights, not going to failure, but you try to increase the weights for every workout. I started with 30lb on the BB for squats as I had never used a barbell just DB's and needed to make sure my form was good, after 10 workouts I've increased to 80lb, which shows me that I was never pushing myself the way I am right now, it's the same with deadlifts, again I started with 40lb on the BB and I'm now lifting 100lb, I have to get some more plates for the BB. With the squats I'm actually doing a full squat, ATG, and I'm really feeling pretty good doing them this way. I'm really enjoying the program and am looking forward to moving onto Stage 2, I have 4 more workouts left in Stage 1. On the MT course, I always wanted to work from home but of course never took the steps to do anything about it, but MT is something that I can do once we are semi-retired, I will always work at something, I don't think I could ever not have some kind of job, and with laptop and internet connection, this would work wherever we are. The course costs around $2000 but they also hire their grads, which will give me the experience I need to break into that field, so I'm looking forward to completing the course. Guest guest
hiya! im here... sort of :/ life has been my workout since the end of august... im on my feet from when i get up in the morning to when i go to bed at night, and i still dont manage to get everything done ::sigh:: i still feel strong and fit but i am definitely getting flabby... ugh! i have been doing a bit of ab work though... i got dh an 'iron gym' for his birthday in january -- it is one of those attachments that go on a door frame to do pullups, ya know? so i also got some 'ab straps' for it... these allow you to keep your upper body stationary while you lift your knees to your chest (or to the side to work the obliques). im also working on an inventory of my massive workout collection... it is so overwhelming! i keep seeing all of the dvds that i want to do and wish i could do them all in one day... LOLOL. also i relocated my workout room again from ds#2's bedroom into ds#1's room. no wall-to-wall mirror anymore, but at this flabby point in my life, i dont want a mirror! LOL anyway it is always exciting to have a different space to workout in... this one has lots of windows and is full of natural light, while the mirrored room is dark. i am promising to take donna's advice and do an ellen barrett rotation -- i think that i am only missing one of her dvds. but, when do i start?? hmmmm... how about tomorrow?!!!! yeah, that sounds good to me. i could really use a nice walk with chinook and then an easy dvd to do afterward. some time for myself would be really great... i miss that and all of my dvds so much! ds#2 has a bunch of boys here for a sleepover for his 9th birthday however, i could do my workout after i get rid of those guys in the late afternoon. i have alot of important things on my to-do list, but im going to try to get that stuff done while the kids are running around... wish me luck, alot of it is personal and business financial stuff... eek !! will post after my workout tomorrow... hugs to all... i miss you all very much! :*carolyn. Guest guest
Hey Carolyn, Maybe try to get your hands on Huckabee's Power Fit System - each workout is only 20 minutes. I like reading her blog, too - she has a sensible approach. Unfortunately, she acknowledges that you do need to watch your diet (the thing I hate the most, but probably need the most!)
