Hi CaronWe have been using DMSA and ALA for about six months with my son. We saw an instant improvement and he continues to get better every week. It is important to chelate using the Cutler Protocol as this is the only one that is safe. I recommend joining the recoveryfromautism group as this is just for people chelating their children using the Cutler Protocol and the files are full of information, everything you need to get started. I would read the files then post any questions to that group. Personally, we have not found it to have any negative side effects due to the low doses used. It takes between 2-6 years to get rid of the metals. There is a stall period at around 6 months which can last for up to six months, you just have to continue to chelate through this. It should not make you feel worse or cause regression if you use the Cutler Protocol. Sometimes you might get stressed adrenals and taking adrenal cortex extract will help with this. As long as you are supplementing correctly, you don't really notice any difference whilst chelating. My entire family is chelating and we just keep getting healthier, but you do want to read the files first and learn as much as possible to make sure you are doing it correctly.Best wishesAutism Treatment From: caronturner24@...Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2010 08:49:47 +0000Subject: chelation using DMSA

Hello I am new to the group - my son has recently been diagnosed and we have found that he has heavy metal toxicity - we are considering chelation using DMSA and would love to hear from parents of chldren who have done this and how they coped/ found it/ lenght of time it took/ whether it worsened their health. My son suffers badly with eczema and I am concerned that this will get worse along side maybe some regression.

** Welcome

Im not a parent but i am an asperger with other complications. ive

heard that vitamin E intake can help with the eczema.

What is your son currently taking?

Are you on gf/cf etc f diet yet? if so in the 1st few months autistics

can appear to regress when all they need is some supplements.

My sons eczema was helped loads by no fenol enzyme. For us this confirmed the main cause was poor sulphation.  He also had a different type of eczema which was connected to yeast - when we have yeast flare ups it returns. I have now learned to recognise the 2 different types he gets.  Daktarin cream gives him quick relieve until yeast protocol kicks in.

Is chelation possible if the child is too young to swallow capsules.  I remember a few years ago I gave my nt daughter ALA for another reason.  I only gave her 1/4 capsule in some fruit puree but we had to stop as she said it was burning her bum.
