Guest guest
My read from the responses from the DAN! docs on the private ListServ is that our reports suprised them. Not one doctor said they have observed a nose bleed with taurine and Binstock found a medical article that showed taurine does not affect coagulation. What that means to me is that this observation may be unique to our antiviral community here and that may not be all that crazy. I've suspected by killing off virally affected cells that we may thin the blood to some degree. That might be part of the issue, or perhaps the temporary mobilization of metals (which toxins are reported to cause nose bleeds) has something to do with it, or possibly something else about antiviral therapy combined with taurine may cause nose bleeds in some kids. But here is the other side of things. Better circulation may be a great benefit for our kids considering SPECT scans show some hypoperfusion in the brain and we often see reports of cold hands and feet in these kids (more signs of circulatory issues). So thiner blood may be good, just not so thin that they have nose bleeds. Anyway, we are also only talking about a handful of reports in the scheme of hundreds of antiviral trials here, so its also important to keep things in perspective... even though I like to dig into details like this. It was also suggested that you don't need a lot of taurine. 300mg for example is said to be more than enough. At least one of our reports was dosing about 650mgs. That's all I have about taurine for today. - Stan
