Hi Everyone

I've been meaning to post this Q for awhile and was curious if anyone knew. We

had the

autism panel done thru Immunosciences a few months ago. My dd's IgG

Cytomegalovirus

came out at 708 (ref range less than 100)....with a value that high - is it

likely that she has

recently experienced an infection? The lab material indicates that values get

very high

about 6-10 weeks after an infection...this happens to coincide with a time when

she got

very ill and was hospitalized. I suspect there's no cut/dry answer, but just

wondering. Our

family came together thru adoption so dont have a ton of information about

birthmom.

When she initially presented with what looked like hearing loss (as many do) my

research

seemed to continually take me b back to CMV. She is PDD-NOS, Hyperlexic...and

her

greatest weakness is her receptive communication ability.... and odd way in

which she

pieces language together (which is similar to many on the spectrum), in addition

to being

HUGELY inattentive (unless she's reading), and having lots of sensory stuff...

receptively, to

have anything " stick " we have to write it out....it's as if all her wires are

frayed from her

ears to the brain and her visual processing has compensated. She began reading

at 18

months...instead of first words, I got the spelling of a very long park

sign...My son has a

CMV of 331 - thinking he got it from her? Still those numbers are kind of high

as well. His

HHV-6 is 27 (ref range, less than 24)..I suspect both are good candidates for

anti-viral

tx....Specifically tho I was just curious about the CMV and wondering if folks

saw lots of

improvements once getting those numbers down? We've already seen great things

with

bio-med...I do think if I were to take her in for a new eval, she'd be more

ADD/ADHD with

processing disorder stuff. I know we can work on the ADD/ADHD stuff a lot more

with

bio-med, but havent seen too many post on improvements in receptive ability.

This is my

greatest concern for her long-term. She was blessed with the most easy-going

temperment and behavioral probs are pretty much non-existent (or seem that way

since

big-brother is so good in that area ;) I actually think MB-12 and other bio-med

has

helped her voice her opinion/object more as she 'd been rather passive...Any

thoughts

would be greatly appreciated ......in terms of CMV...which

anti-viral...improvements in

receptive abilities, etc... Oh, and I should add, she's been fully immersed in

special ed/EI

since 18 months, doing all the ususal, ST, OT, private speech, RDI, etc....and

bio-med has

helped that to be more effective...thx for any thoughts
