Guest guest
We approached this from our Christian perspective and my son embraced it in a positive manner. One of our favorite Veggie Tale videos is called "A Snoodle's Tale." (The "different" character was simply differently-gifted by God; and regardless of how others may describe you, only God knows who you truly are.) My son loved this video when he was young. He wasn't diagnosed aspergers until he was 8 yrs old. Prior to that we only talked about how lovingly and uniquely each of us was created. After the diagnosis, we introduced the fact that our uniqueness extended to even our brain functions. Not everyone operates the same way. Not everyone thinks the same way. One of the "ways a brain can work" is called aspergers. We always point out the gifts that come with being an asperger's thinker--especially when he is using those skills (memorization, details, following rules). "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.†Hebrews 11:1 NIV
