Guest guest
Hello, I just joined this group, hoping to share information. I am a speech-language pathologist, and work with preschool children with autism. I am currently trying to decide on a communication program for a student. I would LOVE to hear input from parents and teachers on what has worked best for you. I am debating between sign language and a picture system such as PECS (or similar), and have heard pros and cons of each. My nonverbal student learns signs relatively easily, but others think it isn't a great idea for various reasons, and would prefer a communication board. If you have used either, or both, with your child, I would appreciate any views on what has worked best. Thank you!
