Guest guest
After doing some intense early intervention we went back to the school district in September. The school refused to use the VB-Mapp that was done in May because it did not include a barrier assessment or transition assessment. They also said they felt it was out of date. Anyways they had someone going for VB-Mapp training and it took this person 5 months to complete the test on our son. In September I voiced my concerns over the test. Asking if it was the right one and the time it took to do it. Sure enough we get the test results this week and it did not capture the barriers that are holding him back. We went to the review meeting today and sited specific examples of why the test wasn't reflective of him. Finally the faciliatator of the meeting admitted that the speech therapist who administered the test admitted that it wasn't capturing his deficits. Where do you go from there? Does anyone know of any test that would give us a better idea of what is holding him back? I hate going to those meeting and walking out knowing that these folks do not see my kiddo for who he is. I know they think I am thorn in their side, but they would do the same if it was their kiddo. Amy
