Guest guest
Please share any book ideas you get. My son is 8 also and loves to read so books that explain his differences and show that other kids have the same issues would be great for him. Thanks, Lesa > > Does anyone know of some good books to read to kids about Autism/Aspergers? My son gets that sometimes things just happen that he can't yet control but he learns better when I read him books or he reads books about certain things or even if you know of a video in cartoon version that kind of explains things. He is 8 and I have always been honest with him that he is special in his own way and that he has some difficulties he will face but we are here helping him work through it, but still would be great if there were some books or videos to help explain in a way children can understand. So does anyone know of any? >

Guest guest
My son has Aspergers and blogs about his life on his website. He is 12 but has been blogging since he was 9. Here is his website: www.bestweatherboy.com He originally published his blog as a book on blurb-but they are very pricey so we are reworking it and hopefully will get it up on amazon for under $10 early in 2011. But you can read it all for free on his site. My son really liked the book All Cats have Aspergers Syndrome. Hugs, Kate Gallegos
Guest guest
Hi Kate, I am a graduate student in NJ studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist. Thanks for the link to your son's blog. I love it. I think it would be a great thing for other kids with Aspergers to read to know they are not alone. Thanks again! > > My son has Aspergers and blogs about his life on his website. Guest guest
This book comes highly recommended on Amazon, " Can I Tell You About Asperger Syndrome?: A Guide for Friends and Family " . Here's the web link: http://www.amazon.com/Can-Tell-About-Asperger-Syndrome/dp/1843102064/ref=sr_1_20\ ?s=books & ie=UTF8 & qid=1291502497 & sr=1-20 My son is just shy of 5, and it's a little old for him, but I bought it as a reference tool for our family. The author was (9) when he wrote it. So it's been a perspective tool for them to use trying to understand some of our sons differences. If anyone has " tools " they can recommend when explaining to your child some of their differences, I'd love to " hear " them. It's tough not always calling out the word autism when seeing how some people react to my sons peculiarities. He's very social, and very articulate, but there are many times people do not understand what he's talking about. Adults think it's cute, kids just think he's odd. Wishing you all the best! > > > > Does anyone know of some good books to read to kids about Autism/Aspergers?
