Given how nice the poodle mixes are, a cocker spaniel poodle mix might work, especially if it's a larger poodle cross.

Our mystery (supposed to be labradoodle) doodle is an F1 (first generation cross), and that may be less expensive whether labradoodle or golden doodle than and F5. Also the golden doodles I've seen are enormous and often have these incredible gorgeous tails that trail on the ground like a bride's train, which might not be the best thing for a working dog. They are outrageously gorgeous though.

If I could clone our dog, I would. She's so perfect.

If you are interested in this, please contact Wilderwood Service Dogs. We received Hope from them for our son Ian and she has done wonders for him. Before we couldn't let go of his hand for a second in public and had to lock the house up from the inside to keep him from wandering off (super sneaky and quiet). Since Hope, Ian has never even tried to wander off. He has learned to think of others more and care for others.

You can contact them and they will answer any questions you have, but it may take them a bit since it is a smaller organization. Trust me, it was the best choice we ever made.

Our picture is up on the graduates section in Dec 2009. Look for the redheads!
