Alopecia Areata A microscopically inflammatory, usually reversible, patchy hair loss occurring in sharply defined areas and usually involving the beard or scalp. (Dorland, 27th ed) Medical Conditions A slight awareness of hair loss, more so when you look in the mirror, normally as a result of undue stress, and worry. SOCIAL STIGMAS Societal Stigma's...you will hear many, many bald jokes, from acquaintances, and people will

assume you have Cancer. Most erroneous information: That your hair will grow back, THICKER. It will not grow back thicker. This symptom of hair loss, reacting to stress, doesn't spawn new hair follicles, if it did there would be no more Snake Oil Salesman advising to spray paint your head, people would simply "shave their disease away" or, planting hair plugs from one area to another, and the hairline resembling a play doll from the Dollar Store. Also to consider, The female species in a civilized world (not including France, of course), would have EXTREMELY HAIRY legs, or wherever they regularly shave, because of this misinformation that hair grows back thicker. This condition, were it true, could be life threatening....... as Sasquatch sightings have been the rise the early part of this century. Again.. this could be fatal..... IS

THERE A CURE? Presently, one is not available. The condition will eventually correct itself, (normally) and hair will return in time. The amount of time varies from case to case. Many sufferer's report the hair coming back white. I most cases, this is true, but soon changes back to natural hair color. HOW DO I TELL PEOPLE WHAT I HAVE? Thank people for noticing, and if you want to, tell them you spent hundred's of dollars for this "new look". (you may also want to tell them to go)....... YOU, and YOUR FAMILY "LIVING WITH ALOPECIA" It is not known to be contagious, expect good natured humor from loved ones, and don't worry. IS THERE HELP AVAILABLE? There are some unscrupulous Dermatologists that will charge you fee's but again.. the is No Known Cure at this time. DISCLAIMER Please remember, always consult your physician brfore trying any new drug, treatment, etc...If symptom persist, longer than you feel is neccessary, it is adivised to AVOID MIRRORS! Upstate New York area is getting hit hard 8 feet of snow and still getting more. I really don't know how people survive in it and such cold every winter. I'll keep the heat and humidity. Love and Hugs. Deb

NC hit a nice 54 today. I think I'll stay here. Don't like the cold, neither does my body. Star1956Deb <posttransplant@...> wrote: Upstate New York area is getting hit hard 8 feet of snow and still getting more. I really don't know

I guess we do acclimate to where we are. I was raised in OHIO, with snow drifts to the roof top. I really try to avoid the cold now, or dress for it. I did use to like riding my M/C when it was really cold out..(40*..don't laugh..when your doin' 70mph the cold still humid air blew through almost anything!!) and have a feeling of beating 'ol Mom Nature...for awhile... The freezin' snow/hurricane/tornado options... With Hurricanes, if you don't leave, what ever happens was pretty much by choice, as far as personal injury. That's because you normally have weeks, then days to kinda see where it's gonna' hit. However, as Deb can attest, they fool you to..cause mass destruction and loss of life. and no power for quite awhile left me with no power for 10 days, and I swear, I don't know how or why Sam Houston, OR THE brothers SETTLED HERE... MOSQUITO'S FIRE ANTS

THINGS YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE..THEY JUST MAKE YOU ITCH ALL THE TIME. I was OK without power but my window unit A/C's didn't work, and I had to use a fan........hahahaha... Tornadoes.. Never been THAT close to one, but I was pumping gas one time on my way to NOLA, on my bike, and outa' nowhere the atmosphere changed, and everyone one of us that were strangers just 2 seconds earlier, were now like we had known each other all along! They had a name for the type it was...mmmmmm....A jumper!! The part part that causes the havoc on earth, will suck right back up, and then for what seems like more than mile, the dogone thing puts it's tail down somewhere else. Sharing/experiencing danger with someone makes us closer, I think. My ex believed in that I think...I always felt as if I had to sleep with one eye open....heh...heh... with the pistol and all........ Snow. I can't even imagine.. anymore... Better than ice I think, cause ice attaches itself to wherever water can go...like power lines, rendering them not only useless, but dangerous, snapping like a crazy whip with death on it if it hits you..scary stuff! Or.. tree limbs, that can't stand the extra weight, or people sliding and doing 360's in their cars... and blustery winds that make your curtains move, reminding you what you meant to do last summer but it was too damn hot!! With snow.. I think I would be content and happy, as long as I was prepared, and stay inside and cuddle and watch a fire and drink hot chocolate with little marsh mellows (maybe the COLORED ones!!) and sing songs like.. 'Oh the weather outside is frightful.. in here, it's so delightful...let it snow let it snow let it snow.... anyone feel the need to gag themselves?? hahahahaha... but I do mean

it....ote: I'll stay here thank you very much. I can take the cold & snow but even the idea of a hurricaine scares me silly. SuZieDeb <posttransplant > wrote: Upstate New York area is getting hit hard 8 feet of snow and still getting more.

Del, you have obviously never met the Northern Ontario mosquito. These guys don't just sting you they take whole chunks of meat off your arms or legs. They're smart tho' & never take their meals down to the lake shore where their bigger relatives will take it away from them, now those are the BIG ones (hee hee) <--- The only way to avoid being eaten. Hugs, SuZie & Sir SpYke who's not afraid of any bug ! (He's got

a short term memory problem just like his mama)
