Guest guest
Hi everyone - Our 4 year old son was just diagnosed hf at the end of January, so we are very new to being a parent with a child on the spectrum. CJ is currently in the sdc 3 year program (December baby). Since he started sdc, we saw quite a bit of progress especially in his expressive language. (Sensory overload has never been an issue and we're in the process of getting an assessment for ot). This last week, though, I've noticed that he changed quite a bit. Lost some expressive language skills he was clearly using weeks prior, much more aloof in reception to the things around him, sensory issues kicked in, and an abundance to yell no during regular routines. Is it normal for kids to have regression? Maybe it's just a part of him growing up? His DAN doctor said to be ready for the tantrums and so forth because it was a sign of improvement. Kaiser diagnosed his social skills to a 2 year old, so maybe it's part of the terrible twos? Being a notoriously worrisome mom, I wonder if maybe mild brain seizures are taking into effect. Then the sensible side of me says not to worry. I don't want to be overly dramatic or lackadaisical. Any advice from tenured parents out there would be very much appreciated. It just seems like there are so many variables, I'm not sure which one to go with. Thanks, Ann
