Hi everyone , I just wanted to catch everyone up. Lucas is inpatient right now

at the Childrens Hospital here in Tulsa. There is not a Psych bed in the state.

He became very aggressive, and violent and suicidal on Friday afternoon because

of his Gamma globulin infusion. It went on for hours and then my daughter call

the police. They came and transported him to the hospital for me. We spent the

night sitting up in the ER. ( did not even give us a cot) And then admitted us.

There is NO Pschiatrist on the weekends. ( Appalling to me) Oh yeah, He was

angry and a little wierd in the ER but NOT violent at all. and we had been there

for hours. They came in and tried to give him a shot of HALDOL and Benadryl>

WHAT????? I refused. One we went there because a needle phobia and then he he

14 med allergies and why they would give him this is beyond me. BUT..... at

about 8am the next morning after I witnessed them code a man who died next to

us. I get a call from my

daughter ( shes 18 and lives with her baby 3mo and bf) and she is screaming!!!!

MOM MOM our apartment is on fire. HELP!!! They got out with their lives and it

burned to the ground. There were 75 firefighters 16 engines and they had to call

the National guard to bring in oxygen tanks. The news is showing their apartment

over and over burning. 12 units burned. It was awful. But they are safe but lost

everything. I feel so blessed that they are fine. But the people of Tulsa are

just pouring out support. So they are at my home I am in the hospital with my

son. We are suppose to leave on Thursday to fly to Seattle and so they are

keeping him here until atleast Monday to start the process of finding him

placement in a facility up there. I am more than a bit overwhelmed and worried

about him but feel that we are probably doing the right thing for now. I know

that he needs more help than I can provide for him. I will keep you posted as

things transpire. I

appreciate the support I have received and hope all is better with your

families at this time. Bless and love your kids. I realize how easily I could

have lost them. They were asleep when it started.

I'm so glad to hear that you are getting excited about the baby and preparing

and being happy. I miss that, and would have had ten more babies had I not had

to deal with some of the things I did, plus complicated pregnancies and

deliveries. But I am always so wistful around babies and toddlers - I had both

of mine so young I completely did not savor the joy in them. And with Sam she

was such a difficult baby that I enjoyed it even less.

I had a meeting at Sam's school yesterday and she is doing very well overall in

school. She's settling into her special classes, and now doesn't want to go

back to " regular " classes.

So - that's good news. Now we have to work on the " littler " things that are the

ones that make me so tired.

In other good news, my new sleeping pill has me feeling a million times better

since I'm getting a decent nights sleep almost every day. It feels like a

miracle!

Boy Marina,

You sure have had quite a full plate! I'm so sorry to hear about the breast

cancer, I too am your age and a nurse and it is very rare. God bless you. I'm

glad you recovered from it but so sorry about the diagnosis and all it entailed.

That isn't easy for anyone. Hugs to you! As for the stuff going on with Ka and

Hunter, sounds like typical teen stuff. I'm guessing the weight gain is

factoring in to Ka not wanting to take her meds. maybe they can change the meds

to others that don't cause wt gain. Devon had gainied a ton of wt on Risperdal

and they were about to switch her to seroquel and abilify and she lost all of

it. Just a suggestion. I hope all works out with her license. She has no other

record right? Perhaps they will not take her license. I think your on track with

all that. Sorry about the leg sprain your dealing with too. Its tough, sometimes

its like that one thing after anouther. I know.

I'm due in late december to have the baby and have been dealing with bad

seasonal allergies that have me coughing and drain my energy, not much I can

take being pregnant, my mother who is in her late 50's and wworks at a school

for autistic and other challenged/ troubled teens has been hurt and is going to

have rotator cuff repair surgery soon, Dec 4th, that will be tough its a long

recovery... I worry because of her active alcoholism but will be ther to help

anyway I can. I'm hoping she can get a referal to the home nursing agency I work

for, I know she'll get excellent care and in home PT if needed.

Devon has been much more co-operative and so far staying out of trouble

these last few weeks. I think she is motivated to spend Thanksgiving and

Christmas home with us. She knows it depends on her and so far seems to actually

care and that alone is a huge step for her. I just worry about her reputation

being in the toilet right now at the new school after all the sexual escapades,

and the lack of her planning for her future but I guess that will come slowly

too. I just worry about the transition to adulthood so much.

All else is going well and we are getting excited for the new baby. Got the

crib together and ready and most of the Christmas shopping is done. Hubby has

been wonderful and so atentive and loving. Glad to hear from you. Hang in

there. beth in NJ

Subject: [bPT] Catching up

Well I have about a billion post to cath up on..and I will try to

get that done..

As I stated in my reply to Beth, we have had a crazy three mths. In

Sept I had a " tumor " removed from my right breast, we really ALL(drs

and all) thought it was nothing as I am SOO young(35, but dangit that

is young for any kind of breast cancer) The results came back as a

rare kind of tumor, and tthe area around the tumor had the cancerous

cells.. So I had to go back in and have a partial mysectomy.. I was

suppose ot go back on the 23 of Sept, and had bronchitis that turned

into pneumonia, So my surgery was delayed until middle of Oct..Got

back to work from all that..and ended up with a bad sprain to knee,

and ankle..So am off work again and have to go thru PT..It is my

right leg and I am on crutches, cant even drive myself..ughhh

As for Ka with all that is going on..she is handling amazingly well.

Mostly just accuses me of being excessively grumpy..But she is

refusing to take her meds..any of them, even her depression meds..

Has stated she also will not get her BC shot when it is due again.

She has gained like 40 lbs, since about MayI do beleive most of it is

the Depokote, and the shot may play a part in it. But it is also she

ahsnt been having the digestive problems since we got her gallbladder

removed. Up until about the beginning of October, it wasnt too big a

deal, though she didnt like gaining the weight, she needed to add

some from the year she was SOO sick. But nowhere near what she has

gained, she is in the overweight catergory now..Then last week I

allowed her to drive two houses down to get a friends arts and craft

bucket(large bucket FILLED with cupplies for a & c's) My dear Ka who is

not licensed decided she need to make the block to turn around, well

her block ended up being three blocks away ..She got stopped, and my

incurance had expired..(becasue I have been unable ot work, and

couldnt drive anywya, I had to choose something ot give up and chose

ins until I can get back on my feet) We were actually lucky the cop

let her bring the car home, and and only gave her three tickets(no

license, no insurance and no seat belt) We are lucky cause here they

could have taken both me and K to jail.... I really dont think it

would have been a problem had she been where she shoulda have been..

Ka is having to pay out the fine (582) dollars, I will have insurance

again on thursday.. but man it scared me.When she first walked thru

the door, I could tell she was shook up and something was wrong..

Then she said " mom I need my social security card, they are taking me

to jail " I just knew she had hit someone and the thought of her

possible injuring someone entered my mind..So I was honestly relieved

when it was only what it was..AND they did not take her to jail!!! I

surely have learned a lesson. I never thought it would be a big deal

since we live near a golf course and kids are driving from their

house to the course all the time..I know better NOW!! I have some

friends working on it..All I want is for them NOT to say she cant get

her license until she is 21, becasue then it will effect her getting

to start college, I cant very well send her to a city and she NOT be

able ot drive herself for school!! I am trying to work out with the

city judge if maybe she can do community service...instead of loosing

when she can get her license..I also have a lawyer saying he will

help for free if needed..I dont want to take too many of the

consquences from her, that she wont learn, but also dont want her

college effected.. Had she NOT gone that far from the house I would

take care of it as I as in the wrong for letting her.. dang when in

life do we quit having to live and learn..ughhh

Hunter is also having a tuff time, he just broke up with a girl

(whose family we have been friends with since they and I were little)

We are fighting depression with him, and of course it isnt helping

his mood disorder as he stays poed now.. but his grades are SOOO

good, and so far they ahvent slipped. He is trying so hard at school,

now if I can convince him it is just as important to stay out of

trouble, He of course(I guess it is a boy thing) wants to beat up any

boy that talks to his Em, and she ahs a line of wanting to tlak ot

her.. I have told him he must discuss this with his counselor, and he

is embaressed to,(guess maybe guys are afraid to admit the can hurt

like this??? to other guys)

Other then that things are great LOL.. Hugs to one and all..

Barb I am so sorry to hear of these overwhelming events. I hope your

son can find someone sympathetic to him who can help him overcome his

fear, and not just offer yet more medications. And I'm glad to hear

your daughter and granddaughter are okay, what a scary, scary thing.

--- Oh Barbie....what a hard time!! Im so sorry. I know Lucas has

been having a tough time with his subq for a little while

now......maybe you can figure out something to help him during this

time.....maybe it would be better to go back to IVIG once a month for

a while...so he only has to deal with it once a month instead of every

week...let him calm down a little bit? I'll be praying for you that

you find the best way to help him. I, too, am appalled that there is

no psych on the weekends.....what, are mental emergencies only

supposed to happen during office hours? thats ridiculous.

Im so sorry about her daughter and her family. About 6 weeks ago, the

same thing happened to my nephew. My sisters son, lived in an

apartment complex straight across from my sister, and someone set it

on fire in the night. There were no sprinklers, and no alarms....its

amazing that no one died. They were woken and dragged out by a

firefighter and a friend less than ten minutes before the whole

building collapsed. They lost everything but a little tin of money

they were saving for a car, and they grabbed their cats on the way

out. But, I will tell you the same thing I said to them at the

time..and I know you know this.....EVERYTHING else.......everything

else....can be bought again. It can all be replaced. They can start

again, even though it will be hard. Im so grateful they all made it

out ok!! Its horrible to keep thinking how close to death they could

be. But its a good reminder to not take our families for granted, right?

THANKS for all the sweet posts. YES, I am SO THANKFUL!!! I think I finally found

a couple of people here that GET IT but they too are saying there are few helps

available. But I had Child Life talk to us together about pain etc as well as

Finally a good PED Attending came in and talked to us about

the complexity of Lucas' issues and how import it is to look at this in a

broader sense. DUH!!! I have been trying to get someone to understand what is

going on. It takes a doctor with experience to take it all in and see all the

parts as a whole. TULSA, OK is NOT the place to get healthcare!!! especially for

this kind of complexity. We will be moving back to Seattle in the next couple of

months in hopes of finding him appropriate care there. I have to sell my house

find some homes for some animals and then pack up and move. It is

overwhelming!!!

We still do not really have a plan right now with the infusions. So I am trying

to figure out what to do with the next one coming up . We already had tickets to

go to Seattle on Thursday so we are just get on the plane and get there for now.

The kids will just buy as they go I guess. I told them to just not worry about

it and enjoy the fun of having a few outfits that they could choose to buy. I am

so sorry to hear about your nephew!!! YES we do have lots of STUFF but it is

LIFE that matters. God has been so good to provide us with safety and love and

caring from so many loving people. The amount of stuff coming in from staff is

amazing here at the hospital. They are being incredible.

Barbie

Some extra prayers are coming your way from my family. I lived

through a house fire when I was in High School and can only imagine

how your daughter is feeling with a little one. I would be more than

happy to send along some baby clothes, toys, etc if you would like.

I have a bunch of things that I was planning on donating, but

wouldn't mind at all sending them your daughters way. Just let me

know...feel free to email me directly if you would like.

Also for your son, I am so happy to hear that finally someone is

getting it. I hope you find a plan that will keep him healthy and

safe in mind and body in which you all can agree on. Have a safe

trip later this week.

Thanks so much Chris. We are in Seattle for vacation for now. I will keep your

email and let you know when we get back if they are needing anything.
