Guest guest
Okay I am sitting here thinking about in less than 3 weeks my son will be in the 3rd grade/Lifeskills at his school. I am having a lot of questions go thru my mind: Like, Will he learn to read? Will he learn to Write? Will he learn how to do simple Math? Why I think this !It's because this child knows his ABC's he can site read words {one at a time} and he can count to 100! So what do I need to do to make sure that they work on the Basic things that he need's to know??? I work with him at home when I can..And he love's for me to read to him everynight at bedtime. Well what I quess I'm trying to say is: How do I stress to them that I expect him to at least be able to read at a 1st grade level or higher and that he can write his letter's and his name!!!! Is that asking to much? I feel that he is getting short changed when it comes to him learning the basic's.. They sure do have a lot of " field Trips " in his class.I want more one on one teaching going on and at the ARD at the end of last year. I couldn't seem to get them to understand that. They have a lot of Requirements that they want him to master so hopefully I will see some learning going on here. And I really feel that he would benfit if he got more than 1- hour a day in a regular classroom. Last year the teacher in the Regular classsroom more or less just put up with him in there and the whole time his aid had to entertain him. {At less that was my understanding} How can I make sure that the Teacher this year in the Regular class is making him do the work that the others are required to do? Sorry so many questions but I feel very overwlemed about school and what isn't happening for him. His Lifeskill Teacher is wonderful and really love's my son. She contact's me daily about him and what she and I can do to make sure he is learning. Well, any advice will be helpful! Again Sorry about so many questions.
