Yes - my son is great at school but not at home, and I have used behavioral charts successfully since he was 5 (he is now 11). He has 2 charts he uses now. One hangs behind his bedroom door and is for completing homework without having a meltdown. Every night he completes homework without a meltdown he gets a star and a small treat. After 10 stars, he gets a DQ. He chose what he wanted as a reward so I know it's something that motivates him. To help, we also worked out a homework schedule. He knows that 6:00 is homework time. He gets a break after 45 minutes. Also, hanging above his desk, is a relaxation list. He has 3 things he can do when he feels like he is going to lose it. At first I had to keep an eye on him and prompt him to stop and choose something on that list and relax. It took

about a month, but he was then able to use the list on his own. It did take about 3 months before he was really able to do his homework consistently without meltdowns. It's a slow process, but it worked. We have another list on the bathroom door that shows what he needs to do to get ready for school in the morning. He is to check off each thing when complete. I've taken several classes on behavior management. It's important to be consistent, stick with it, and make sure the reward really is a motivator for your child. Rewards must be immediately after the behavior you want to encourage. Now before I start sounding like one of my college professors, I'll get going. I'd be happy to provide more info on behavior charts if you like. Just let me know. Personally, I LOVE them. They have helped so much!Kim
