Guest guest
My son has recently started with Dr. Neubrander and we are beginning the MB12 nasal spray. However, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with a stimulatory behavior called aerophagia or " air gulping " . My son's neck muscles extend out in a very flexible way (most people can't do what he does) and he gulps air, doesn't exhale properly and gets himself into a frenzy. The behavior can last up to 15 minutes if we allow it. We usually stop it by laying him down flat on his back and extending his arms above his head. This relaxes him and he finally takes a deep breath. I'm just not sure if this is only a stim or perhaps it is also being influenced by something in his diet (he is on GFCF), or environmental, etc. Dr. N believes it is a stim and everyone else I have asked is perplexed. Has anyone experienced this with their child or has any information or guidance? My son is 14 and has had this for years, but in the last 8 months, we have seen an increase in frequency and intensity. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Lenore
