Guest guest
Ashton, 14, had some " strange " developmental issues. She was always sick with " minor " infections: ear, sinus, tonsil, etc. She talked extremely early, but walked late. She didn't even crawl until almost 12 mos. She had issues with motor skills. I was constantly playing ball with her and doing outside things so she could work on her movement. She had a terrible time. Her sister is 2.5 years younger and could run circles around her at less than 1 yr. I kept working and so did she. She was extremely intelligent and articulate. She slept frequently. Her sister wouldn't sleep. I kept seeing more differences all the time. I enrolled her in soccer, and she wasn't very good. I worked with her. She is not a natural athlete, but she made progress. The coaches worked with her to the point they moved her feet to show her moves. Once she got it, she got it. It was embarrassing for her. I just kept encouraging her, and so did the coaches. She has struggled in so much. She struggled to learn to read. She had a great teacher who taught me how to teach her in the first grade. I worked academic and athletic skills with her. We also work with her social skills. She is very shy and anxious. It is amazing to see the difference at 14.5 yrs. We had her tested for processing disorders, autism etc. With her it seems to be anxiety. I think she just always felt so bad, that the energy to just get through things was all she had. She can memorize thing very easily, and I think that got her through. She is playing travel soccer now, can converse with people, will be taking AP classes next year, and has really grown. IVIG has been a miracle for her. It is amazing how much she has changed with that and hard work.
