Guest guest
If your son is supposed to see some kind of specialist..Speech teacher for speech/language services, a counselor for behavior...they need to keep a time log for the times they spent with your child. You can check with the gen ed teacher to see if they are pulling your child during these times. If they aren't following the accommodations, then you need to speak to them about it. Sometimes my son was getting them and he didn't even know it. Those he wasn't getting? Well, I sent them an email and copied it to the district also saying that I will pursue it legally if they don't adhere to his IEP. It happened several times, but really you just want them to follow it, so remind them to do it. Good luck. In a message dated 11/24/2010 9:28:28 P.M. I want to know exactly what is going on while he is at school and I am writing an e-mail to the Evaluation Personnel at the school. She wanted to know exactly what was not being followed. He has 11 accommodations listed and of those there are 9 that are not being followed at all, one has not taken place yet because it is for major testing ( I need to clarify that one with them) and one they changed from 2 classes to 4. The one that I was most worried about and I knew he wasn't getting was the therapy two times a week for speech and social behavior. Guest guest
I'd be in the principals office Monday morning raising holy hell. They cannot do that. The IEP is a Legal, Federal document. They don't get to decide just not to follow it. Guest guest
We have the ARD meeting set up for next Monday. My son is 15 and from what he is telling me, they are not pulling hm from any classes at all. The good thing is that today when the district called to confirm the meeting, my husband (Big C's step-dad) and I talked about what was going on. He was not so supportive when this all first happened and now he is seeing what is going on more because I am explaining things to him. He told me today that the school needs to stay on top of things and that when I go to the meeting, I need to not be so nice. He thinks I am too nice so no one listens to me. He is also the type who does not believe in counseling so when the doctor suggested it for Big C, I was kind of apprehensive of what he was going to say. However he proved me wrong, he actually agrees with it and the first session is tomorrow. Littlepage"The past is the same, but the present has no boundary."
