Guest guest
My son who is now 20 has broken three bones in his wrist on 2 occasions...(he is a very active person) he was doing stunts with his skateboard and a bicycle(dont ask)...lol when we found out he broke the one in his growth plate I was scared thinking he had damaged his wrist and would have future problems...I didnt need to be...we were also concerned with arthritis and the doc told us that even with a family history he can prevent arthritis from affecting him too early with a good diet...in all my son has broken 16 bones from stunt accidents(you'd think he'd learn) but he heals amazingly well because he is one boy who loves his milk.....I say to keep an eye on it but not to worry overmuch and it is possible that the joint pain and achiness could be the normal growing pains in a young boy...I remember Jon complaining when he went to bed at night as a kid that he ached and now I look back on it I can see that it was because he was so active and always running...you say your kids dont do the normal things kids do but I am hoping you give yourself a worry break and hope this is just a growing phase ok? > > Well I have a question for you all if you have a chance. > ALex (my PIDD 10year old) fell a couple of days ago and the orthopedic we saw says he fractured his wrist on the growth plate. Being that this is a normal kid thing I'm kind of at a loss (my kids don't do normal kid things LOL) > SO my question to you all is, has a history of joint pain, achiness etc but does not have arthritis. Should I be concerned that this could set him up for damage to his joint and should I be giving him something for the inflammation everyday to help combat or prevent the damage? He really is not complaining of any pain, however I have been giving him a motrin before bed just in case. > Should I be watchful for anything else? > Thanks so much, what a whirlwind we have going on at our new house!!! (we just moved from MN to NM 1 1/2wks ago.) > Missy > Mom to 10 PIDD~ hypogamma, low Tcells, Antibody deficiency, asthma, reflux, hypoplastic sinus etc... > Mari 5 ~soy allergy but healthy > Max 21mo ?PIDD ~T Cell dysfunction, Antibody deficiency, asthma, reflux, hypoplastic sinus etc... > www.caringbridge.org/boggiokids > > > > --------------------------------- > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
